Because like. I think at this point we all know that unlike darkners plantners have only had today as beings with higher consciousness, which means they've been isolated to only each other and Asgore for more of their life. They only know what they've existed around.

So when Flowery appears with a face and mouth and a chance to make Asgore happy, he thinks about all the things that have made Asgore happy in the past. And his first instinct is to mimic it all: being his best friend, partner, fishing buddy, diner buddy, making him pies.

Flowery goes out of his way to fulfill every angle of lost love in Asgore's life. He does that because he himself has no idea how this stuff works, like this is his first day being able to feels things so clearly. He doesn't know what boundaries are or how relationships work

It just gets to me that he's so new at this stuff all he knows to do is mimic it. And most of all, he falls for Asgore's Top Tier Acting at the beginning because he's pretty naive. He's watched Asgore lose it all, and he thinks if he gives it back himself it'll make Asgore happy

It's how he'll repay Asgore for all his kindness.

All this to say you can view the way Flowery love Asgore as romantic or platonic and both are valid in the context of Flowery not really understanding the context and differences in affection and love

So you get things like him trying to be Asgore's best friend, and then trying to mimic Toriel too with the chair and pies, and the diner being coded romantic but also him wanting to be Asgore's family and having the flowers replace the rest of the family

It's all so overwhelming for Asgore's who's a normal human/monster but Flowery can't really see what's wrong. This is the first time they've ever spoken 😭 I imagine he instantly assumes Asgore will love them because he's been showing them love as flower

But that doesn't take into account that Asgore loves them as their caretaker, and not when they were pretending to be humans. Not to say he only likes them as flowers, Asgore makes it clear he still enjoyed being around them and thought they were wonderful at times

He's so fricking naive about Asgore liking everything that his face when he says "you didn't actually like my mixtape" actually makes me so emotional he looks so so sad ughhifhf

However you look at it, there is one sided love on Flowery's end, and you can see it as either romantic or platonic but the most important thing to me is that it's incredibly deep and selfless love. The moment Asgore says he can't stay and needs to take care of them, even though all the flowers have dreams they still want to live out, Flowery folds because he'll do whatever makes Asgore.

I got a bit off track I just prefer to view Flowery's love as deeply platonic but unable to really differentiate due to being 1 day old
