Noelle, in Chapter 6, when she finds out she wasn't dreaming and that Susie hid from her a real magical world which, from her perspective, could presumably cure her dying father!
Just a shitpost I made in an hour because I wanted an excuse to have Noelle's choking animation but with Susie instead of Berdly.
This was probably one of the most gut wrenching moments in the chapter for me it doesnât even feel like flowery said this it just felt like toby turned to me through the screen and said it
Thereâs a lot of discussion now surrounding the recurring themes of escapism and moving on, and in particular I think I rly agree with moving onâ being a theme that is going to be a really big part of whatever the ending is. (I donât think that escapism itself has a large part in the themes other than playing a part within âmoving onâ. Like you can choose to turn to escapism as a means of trying not to move on.)
I donât have the amount of nostalgia for undertale like a lot of other fans do, I watched play throughs of it when younger and did consume the entire story so id call myself a fan but I donât think I had the nostalgia hit me playing through chapter 5 like others did (I mean this in the sense of emotionally, not literally. Yes I picked up on the very literal parallels like the humans vs the flowers and flowey vs flowery lol)
But Im coming to undertstand that the chapter was like scientifically engineered to take the ending of undertale tp and warp it right in front of our eyes (beyond the obvious parallels). Flowery being fucking named FLOWERY at first made me think he was going to literally parallel flowey more but as I played it became obvious that wasnt the case, i think flowery like. Parallels undertale as a whole to an extent? I donât think I know how to put it into words. It felt like we fought undertale/our memories of undertale itself in that final fight, in a way.
The flowers in general are such a strange cast of characters to think about. The dead humans in undertale were a mysterious and tragic group that we were never given the chance to learn much about, and that was probably on purpose. But they were given a chance to actually appear, to actually live in and through deltarune. One last adventure where we can even have fun with characters that were never meant to have actual characters.
The sheer amount of times the general theme of âremembering the pastâ comes up in this chapter alone let alone previous chapters. Remembering the past but not letting it cloud your vision ahead of you, the major motif of the entire game being called âdonât forgetâ because while you need to be able to move on what you can do is not forget. The way I went back to tobys post about the original piano rendition of sunset of seven suns, and the caption is him again talking about him having played this himself 10 years ago, reminiscing about it, then telling us that the version in the present is different and we shouldnât be surprised. Man
I donât really know what Iâm trying to say in this post because itâs not as if we havenât been seeing these themes for most of the chapters already thereâs just something else about this chapter that is really sticking with me. I think Iâm hit with a general sense of heartache I canât put into words, along with just being in awe of the amount of ways toby incorporated layers of themes and references throughout the chapter. And part of the heartache is just that man, this entire story feels like itâs so personal both from reasons we know and just. Playing the game he's made that obviously has so much thought put into it

The thing that intrigues me the most about Flowery as a character is that despite all his meta fuckery he seems to not care at all about what the player wants.
His weapon and armors are bound to his inventory, he often proposes the $!?# Squad solutions that are functionally easier (infinte money, ways back to the Light World, etc...) but wouldn't exactly be "entertaining" to someone who witnesses it all as a story rather than a quest.

Whether you go through chapter 5 sparing or fighting every enemy, it doesn't change his battle or the ending of the chapter, he always has his own recruits helping him regardless. (Hell, if you do the weird route "Flowery" doesn't even exist).
Notably, when he fights against the Knight, he stands on the left side of the battle screen, where the "protagonists" usually stand, but unlike when Susie enters a battle by herself the Soul doesn't go towards him, and we have no control over any of his actions.
His DESIGN. Obviously Toby didn't create him for the sole purpose of being a Tumblr Sexyman⢠(he wrote that Sans vs Reigen thing for the tournament a few years ago, he knows what kind of freak people like), but the fact that so many fans feel irked by his "anime-ness", combined with the surprise of seeing an adult human in the UTDR art style AND his animated introduction (sudden, high-budget and lacking in comedic tone, contrasted with Tenna's, which feels more diagetic and closer to the typical humor and artstyle we're familiar with to that point) makes it feel like him being less appealing was an intentional decision.
Honestly I feel like the largely negative fan reception to Flowery has made me appreciate him more specifically because of this apparent lack of care for us. Yeah he can be an asshole, he can be overly cruel under dire circumstances for him and his friends, but the idea that he doesn't care to change his personality to appeal more to the time-warping all-seeing entity we are DESPITE HIM KNOWING ABOUT SO MUCH SHIT makes him somewhat cool in my book.
TLDR I think Flowery has more depth than people give the team credit for and I would get drinks with him. He's paying though.

yeah, itâs not an original concept by any means but i couldn't get this idea out of my head. i'm calling this au âa flowerâs dreamâ for now. i'm not too fond of the title (yet?) so it might change to something better (update: it's called "flowers' hopes and dreams" now!). basically, the sealing of the flower kingdom's dark fountain occurred at the same time as an undertale âresetââwhich led the seven flowers to slip into the kingdom of monsters. they're scattered throughout the underground, separated from one another, with little to no clue where they are.Â
oh, and the human souls are gone from their containment. totally completely unrelated whatsoever!

this au is heavily based on the parallelism between deltarune and undertale. the obvious being: flowery is the counterpart to flowey, the flowers are as to the fallen humans (souls), pink with mad mew mew. so, when they get dumped into undertale, their existence got linked to these associations.Â
the human souls, within their containment, resonated with six flowers. it was strong enough that they escaped and attached themselves to them. the flowers become⌠vessels, of sorts. not in a kris way tho! the human souls lie dormant, having died, with minimal consciousness. in deltarune, darkness is what gifted flowers a human form. but here, itâs flipped around: the light of the soul giving them shape. its kinda like shadow puppets (light as the human soul, hand as the flower, shadow as their human appearance, darkness from the underground). the six flowers spawn at the items left behind by the fallen humans. aqua wakes up at the balcony ruins (toy knife), orange gets stuffed into the first dimensional box (tough gloves), etc. monsters think theyâre human at first but soon realize they arenât (and later not monsters either).
as for flowery and pinkâŚ
flowery and flowey share a body. right before meeting frisk (again), flowey felt something change within him. it bursted out of his stem and took on a humanoid shapeâbecoming flowery. it's a case of accidental parasitism that neither of them like. flowery is in control most of, if not all, the time while flowey sits on his shoulder. he has vines wrapping around his midsection and some of his left arm, leading upward to where flowey is. flowery has a similar looking soul to the other flowers: a black heart with a red glow. the red color comes from the determination that was injected into flowey (following the red soul = determination assumption). anyway, flowery accompanies frisk in their journey despite floweyâs complaints. he also has the ability to see the save points but canât interact with them as frisk does. oh, and flowery has deep, complicated feelings about this worldâs asgoreâŚ
pink, in their dark world form, is dumped right next to mad mew mew. sheâs a unique case of being separated from her undertale counterpart, purely because of how her story works (pinkâs darkner body). pink has a special soul unrelated to humans, being half darkner and half monster. it's reminiscent of her split soul mechanic in undertale. pink is absolutely frustrated at first, due to feeling lost, before settling down⌠before promptly freaking out at the underground history. the lightner pink is shocked about monsters being banished while the darkner pink realized darkners donât exist in this world. she has so many emotions running through her head. however, pink later finds resolve and sets out her own adventure to find ory and the others! she also has a new friend accompanying her too, mad mew mew! they get along really well <3
moving on, undertale! not much to talk about tbh. frisk just completed a neutral run and, on floweyâs advice, reset back to the beginning. however, they are completely caught off guard by these new friends. neither humans or monsters but âplantnersâ! note: there is no player entity, the red soul belongs to friskâs. And, chara is a ghost that follows frisk... yeah, iâm old school for that.
it's not fully fleshed out or anything but thatâs all i have. for anyone wondering why pink is included, i see her as a part of the bouquet. (âżâ âżâ )
