what happened?
The twin was so lost. He woke up in some strange alternate universe where Spencer wasnât gay anymore? Mason wasnât sure he was awake and the look of panic ridden fear on his face was more than imminent. But Madison told him he couldnât leave and he knew he shouldnât leave anyhow. Â âI donât want to fight,â Mason said quietly, then looking down at Spencerâs phone and unlocked it to look through it again to try and think things through.Â
More tears fell against Spencerâs phoneâs screen as Madison assured Mason that Spencer and she loved him, and he couldnât stop feeling this weird energy in him. He just wanted to go home. He had to accept it, and he didnât want to argue anyhow. He didnât â He had just gotten out of arguing with his ex.Â
Why was this so⌠confusing?Â
He had so many questions. Were they a couple now? What were they going to do about the kids? Marriage? Mason looked up and wiped his eyes before taking the child from Spencerâs arms and then placing her back into Madisonâs arms. He then motioned for Spencer to kneel down, where Mason reached out and gripped Spencerâs shirt.
âYou are to marry that woman that we both love more than everâ my sisterâ and make the best family ever. I know youâre gay, or hell, maybe now youâre bisexual. I donât care. Sleep with men in your marriage, but donât you ever try to leave those two girls. If you ever hurt my sister, I will murder you, no questions asked. I will go to jail and your children will be fatherless. Do you understand Spencer Porter? I donât screw around with people hurting my sister. You did thisâ be it intentional or notâ youâre taking full responsibility and I donât want any excuses.â
Spencer wasnât about to do anything other than what Mason told him to do, but even then, he was frankly stunned when he was jerked forward. He also had a vuage inappropriate thought that rhe hoped dinât flash on his face, but he was listening, right, listening.
âMase,â Spener said slowly, not looking away from him. âI love your sister THe only reason I didnât already ask her is because weâd want you to be at any wedding there was. Whichâokay, I meanâI would want that. Youâre my best friend, and the person I love more than anything, exceptâwell I guess except the girls.â Spencer smiled a little, but he contineud speaking, unwilling to let his eyes drift over to his babies for even a second, because he knew heâd be completely lost to Mason then. Heâd just gotten him back.
Heâd just gotten him back once before, and then everything had gone to shit.
He wasnât about to let that happen again.
âWhat if the men I want to sleep with arenât men? Wat if theyâre justâŚman?â Spencer did glance over at Madison then, but only for a second, before looking back at Mason. âShe wasnât kidding, Mase. Iâve loved you since I was fourteen, and just âcause thisâhappenedâdoesnât mean thatâs not still the case. And i know everytingâs weird andâjust, yeah, weird, butâIâm not interested in hurting my daughters, in hurting Madison, or hurting you.â Spencer esitated for just a seocnd, then reahed up to wipe away Masonâs tears. âBut I donât want to marry anybody right now. I justââ Spencer swallowed thickly and knitted his brow a little, trying to explain. âWeâIâthought you were dead. I thought I was never, ever going to get to talk to you againâor at least, that you were never going to talk back to me. And now you are and I donât even care if you hate me for the rest of your life brecause at least youâll be alive to do that. So justâI donât care, Mason. Be pissed, be confused, be whatever, justââ Spencer looked at Madison, helpless, then back to Mason, âJust please, donât ever think I stopped loving you for even one second.âÂ
God, Spencer wanted to kiss him.
It was just what people did after declarations of love.
But everything was so much, and he didnât want to shock Mason back into the coma.
âSo,â Spencer brought his ands to Masons and gently unwrapped them from his shirt, but kept them as he looked over at Madison. âCan we be a family? All of us? AllâŚshâshoot, all five of us?â
Good, Madison thought. She was glad that Spencer glossed over the wedding thing, because she was ready to really lay into her brother about that -- this was not the olden times, a man was not required to marry the mother of his children, nor was a woman not allowed to decide who she wanted as her husband. The thought had crossed her mind -- she loved Spencer, she did -- but it just wasnât for Mason to decide, end of.Â
âWe are a family,â Madison insisted. âAll of us.â And she was proud of Spencer for stating his case so plainly. âTrust me. We always have been. Itâs just ... if youâre ready, I guess.â She glanced to Mason with the question in her eyes, the pain right behind it, but buried more deeply. âI knew you were in there. And ... I knew you were coming back. I think ... maybe youâre not all the way back just yet. And thatâs okay. Iâm just so happy that youâre here and we can talk to you. And he loves you,â she added again, emphatically, nodding towards Spencer. How did she wind up holding both children?Â
