Conservation at the Bodleian.

The retrofit of Weston Library gave us the room and facilities needed to preserve our world-class collections for the world. 

Don’t worry, we aren’t torturing this parchment map! 

It has been gently humidified, clipped using padded bulldog clips, and then pinned out onto a board. As it returns to normal humidity the creases and distortions will be very softly reduced…

While in Thailand, I came across a lot of gorgeous kinnaree statues and have been wanted to paint part of the bird princess Manohara’s story ever since.
