A Mad Melody

Once that was done went up to the guy who helped him. It was at this point that Deku noticed his eyes were a lot different from normal. 

They were pretty cool actually. But considering where Midoriya was from the cat-like eyes were by far not the strangest things he has seen. he had a friend who was all pink. 

“Thanks for the help man what is your name? I’m Deku.” As Midoriya introduced himself he started to walk out of the ambulances way and started walking away from the scene. the last thing he wanted was to be in the way. 

CV got out of the way of the ambulance as well. Deku? That sounds like a cute name! He turned to face the young man after the two were properly out of the way.

“Commander Video. A pleasure!”

Deku said goodbye to the woman and looked over at someone, a guy, who was talking to him. It took him a second to realize what the guy was saying and he felt himself starting to blush. 

“t-thanks I-I just like helping people” he managed to get out a bit embarassed by himself but when ever someone was in danger he just helped. Wait that snapped his attention he looked a thte guy.

“Do you want to help me figure out if anyone is seriously injuried or stuck?” He asked the guys snapping out of his embarassed state and walked over to the first car. A small family were fine except for a bit of seat belt rug burn. He moved on to the next were a middle aged man why started the accident. He was bleeding from his forehead but responding and ultimatly seemed ok.

CV nodded and took a look at everyone that was in the accident. Walking with the fellow hero, he did his best to assist everyone. Asking if they were alright, if they needed anything, and making sure they know that an ambulance is on its way.

He didn’t want to look intimidating with his cat-like eyes with bright white irises. Or maybe those eyes made him look friendlier. He wasn’t sure. But he didn’t want to mean any harm despite his appearance... Even if he does look human. You don’t see a guy in all white every day with a big red plus on his shirt over where his heart/CORE is. Then again... You’d probably see CV as a normal guy if you didn’t notice his eyes right away. Or how out of place his name is.

“Nostalgia Section?” she repeated. Sayaka tapped her nose as she thought about it for a second. She knew the word. She knew that she knew. Oh! That’s right. Nostalgia.

So he had a specific section. What other kinds did he have? Did he categorize them based on the type? Or the objective? She just ranked them on the ones she liked and didn’t like. She had to know, but she didn’t want to ask. Maybe if she lingered she would learn more.

Sayaka loved her music games. Music, rhythm, beats, dancing. Any types of those games and the bluenette found herself in a sense of euphoria and pure bliss. For example, all she wanted to do was play Dance Dance Revolution and dance her stupid little heart out to the JPOP that the machine had installed. But she was too engrossed with this guy right here.

Blinking her eyes, Sayaka tried to understand what he had meant. “This field of hobbies? Like video games? Or? How do you have the experience?”

“Yep. Video games. I’ve been interested in them for a long time now. But out of my travels, it’s the first time I’ve actually gotten to play some without having to worry about saving the world.”

He didn’t want to reveal his knowing of being in video games himself. He doesn’t want to cause anything.

“Retro games like this always strike my fancy. Retro styled games, too, with pixels and stuff. It always gives you the feeling of the good ol’ days.”

CV continued with his playthrough. Though his focus was interrupted when, out of nowhere, the Nyan Cat theme played straight from his CORE.

Sayaka let out a low whistle that blew between her two front teeth as she rocked back onto her heels. “Wow, a whole hour? That’s pretty impressive.”

She stepped onto her tiptoes, glancing over his shoulder once more. Instead of watching the screen, curious blue eyes watched the way his fingers and hand moved. It was so mesmerizing. The transition between each movement of the joystick happened so smoothing and there didn’t seem to be any panic behind it.

Her eyes glazed over to the scree and winced. She would have died right there, she knew that she would have.

This guy was definitely a pro.

“Is this your favorite game or something?” she asked. “I used to play it back in Japan, but there are a lot of other games I like more.” 

“Really? That’s cool.” His eyes kept on the screen but the other did get his interest. “This isn’t at the top of my favorite of favorites but it’s on the list in the Nostalgia Section.”

CV keeps his games organized into sections. The Nostalgia Section being those back-in-the-days games like Pacman, Pong, Alien Invaders, etc. Then he has an Essential Section where he has games based on music, rhythm, and patterns. Things that his species runs on. Lastly is the Misc Section where everything else goes.

There was something comforting to Sayaka knowing that Wonderland had an arcade. It wasn’t even because she liked video games–yes, she liked them but they were never her go-to activity when given a decision. RetroBlast offered Sayaka similarity between her new and her old home. Even if there was some fantastical thing happening here, she could still remember her time back in Japan with her friends.

Her pockets jingled with coins that she had been saving for such an excursion. Tips, change, any little thing helped her for such a trip. She even had some cash if she wanted to get a snack.

Yes, Sayaka Miki was a big spender today. But everyone deserved some enjoyment time.

When Sayaka got to the arcade, she noticed that it wasn’t as busy as it normally was, which was a definite plus for the girl. While she would have loved to randomly play against someone in DDR, the lack of yelling children could make this trip much more fun. Sayaka walked around with her hands behind her back, taking her sweet time as she wandered from machine to machine as she figured out what she wanted to do.

She stopped at the Pacman machine when she heard someone growl, curious blue eyes watching as the stranger played his game. She watched as he put more money in without almost any time passing.

“Wow,” she exclaimed, peering over his shoulder as his game began, “how long you been here for?”

CV took into account the person who spoke to him but his eyes were dead set on the screen in front of him. Due to this not being a music game, his focus can shift back and forth. But he mustn’t lose too much focus or else he loses more of his money. And time.

“About an hour or so...” he answered.

He played the game so fluently, his hand moving the joystick like a pro and his other hand hovering over the buttons ready to press any at any given time.

Everything has a pattern. A rhythm. Just like a song. CV has just got to ride that vibe and keep his focus on the game and it’s bigger picture.

Gee, doesn’t that sound familiar?

Well, it does to him.

Deku loves running. Well actually that is what e toldhimself however he did not nesseasritly hate it as it was a art od staying in shape which has after several years been a constant in his turbulent life, First himbeing a hero and now hi being taken to who knows were this is it was nice that the footfalls were the same.

As he got close to the end of the sidewalk cars so he paused to stretch his legs. An older woman walked up also waiting for the pedestrian light to turn green. 

When the light turned the woman went immediatly and Deku had about five mississippis before he was done stretching. A loud skretch of tires caused Deku to look over asa car tried to stop for the light but kept going hitting one car and a pile up started with the old woman in the center. Deku bunched up his legs and jumped near the old woman and jumped with her in his arms across the street and set her down. 

“Thank you so much!” she said as she continuted her walk. 

“Your are welcome”, oh that was a close one..” 

Oh- Oh geeze. Out of all things to expect here, he didn’t expect a car pileup. One car hits another... And then another... CV cringed as he watched the damage but couldn’t help but notice a young boy helping an old lady get away from the wreckage. The other’s jumps were long and graceful, enough to get from point A to point B with ease without having to stop. Reminded him of his RUNNER days...

CV took the time to call an ambulance before he would approach the boy and praise his efforts. With that out of the way, he ran over to the green-haired hero.

“Awesome!”

CV waved hello to the other.

Concerts—having always seized up an opportunity to view one, Banri was a bit tentative on what sort of performances were to be shown here since this peculiar world consistently turned everything up on its head. However, curiosity had already ensnared him and he was incapable of escaping said clutches until he witnessed everything for himself.

So, Banri sauntered through the capacious hall until he reached a scrawny-looking guy with a heap of equipment nestled in front of him. At first, Banri surmised he was simply setting everything up for the next guy, but when realization struck him, Banri couldn’t help but audaciously inquire, “Oi, don’t tell me you’re the one performing next?”

“… I skipped classes for this, y’know?”

CV slightly flinched when he heard someone talking to him. He turned around, eyes moving to look at the newcomer. First impression-wise, the tone he had was somewhat rude... But CV shook it off. Who is to say that somethings that’s bad can’t become good?

“That’s me!” CV said with a smile. He took into account the fact that the other was skipping classes but didn’t say anything. 

It was a Friday at the Concert Hall, CV was setting up for his next live performance. He had an electronic keyboard on hand and a few small speakers connected to it. Next to the keyboard was a desk with a laptop. There was an open program on it. It was a music composition program with various samples CV made on it’s playlist. It took him a few weeks to figure out how to use the program (and it didn’t help that he has the random Nyan Cat spurts).

CV has his live performances every second Friday of the month. He mostly uses this to get his music out there and show off his creations. When not performing at the Concert Hall, CV composes music for various projects like animation, games, a film projects. It helps that he’s part of a music-based species when it comes to music theory. He just needed to learn audio engineering. He hopes to go to classes for that eventually. For now, he just relies on tutorials on the internet.

The evening jog. It felt nice to get his body into motion again after regaining it. Having been dead for god knows how long, becoming corporeal once more was quite the dizzy thought. It took him a while to get used to being able to touch things again along with smell and taste. It was like being born again. And, well, that was the case. He was born again.

His feet moved to a silent beat. 1, 2, 3, 4. 1, 2, 3, 4. This very rhythm matched his CORE’s beat. That was another thing that he had to get used to again; his CORE. As a soul, he didn’t have a CORE. His rhythmic energy was stored within his ethereal form rather than a CORE. So to have his main source of power back, it was a sudden rush of energy. He was really, really awake for three whole days and couldn’t fall to sleep until his body got used to the rhythmic energy he regained.

Out of all places that this place had to offer, RetroBlast was one of his favorite places. It marks third on his list. Second being Twisty’s and first being the concert hall. It makes sense for someone like him. After all, he is part of a music-based species. But nothing sparks nostalgia like a good trip to the arcade.

At the moment, CV was trying to get onto the high score board for Pacman. Like Pong, the game his paddle and it’s abilities is based off of, it’s addictive. Get all the dots, avoid the ghosts, power up then eat the ghosts, maybe get some fruit here and there. It’s a classic game.

It’s enough to get his mind off the fact that his CORE now suddenly has the ability to burst the Nyan Cat theme three times a week at random. Wakes him up in the middle of the night, sometimes. But it’s a short song. He can bear it. He doesn’t mind the other swapped ability where-in his laser power is now a pointer instead of waves of bolts. Being a cat person, it’s pretty fun.

For now, it’s up to CV to beat that high score- wait, nope. He just lost his third life. He let out a “grrrr” in frustration. In goes the next few coins.

He’s honestly wasting his money being here. But, well, he’s not used to managing money before when his previous currency was literally BARS OF GOLD. In a human sense, he’d be very VERY rich. But instead he’s on the same level as us.
