Imagine your son, who is also a major God, gets married 16,108 times, and you can't attend any of his weddings...
would people read a story where a working woman, maybe a professor, hears a knock on her door one night and opens her door to reveal a very dark-skinned smiling baby with a flute and a peacock feather (uhm krishna uhm)? and she takes him in and raises him, basically a fluffy, slice of life, mythological, tale with a sprinkle of next-door-neighbor trope?
Obviously. And it has to be MAJOR FLUFF.
True story:
My friends: *talking about radha and how beautiful she is*
5 yo me who's only heard of rukmini: who's radha?
*proceeds to get a full rundown about radha*
5 yo me: really? I've only known rukmini...
My friends: who's rukmini?
*proceeds to give them a rundown about rukmini*
Found this cute fic when I was scrolling thru ao3. Wanted to share it with y'all.

Headcannon: Rukmini and Satyabhama together would be running dwaraka while krishna, being krishna, tends to the kids instead.
It's a shame that we don't know anything about krishna's wives outside their wedding stories
Rukmini and Satyabhama have stories outside their marriages to Krishna, but what about the others? We know little to nothing about them...
Unfortunately even names we don't know properly.
Mbh abd Sbh names are not consistent.
Perhaps that was a deliberate attempt by Krishna . Just imagine how much threats he had all along his life,he did not want his family to suffer...
Even if we go to Ruk abd Sat their stories are not much in mbh. Even in sbh it is given in tit bits. So we never know. What Iam confident is he must have kept his wives and children Happy safe and warm.
That makes sense. We know ruku and bhama to some extent due to the stories, but at least I'd like to know more about the ashtabharya. But I guess it's better if we didn't know or we'll end up with character assassination like bhama in the krishnavataram movie 😮💨.

Holy Rasgulla, Unholy Lies
Rukmini: You promised me the last Rasgulla
Krishna: Technically, I never said who I promised it to
Rukmini: Oh, so now you’re playing word games?
Krishna: I’m literally the god of lila. You knew what you signed up for
So I went for a play on krishna around a month back, and one thing that surprised me was, when the play ended and it was introduction of the actors, EVERYONE in the audience cheered for Radha, but no one for Rukmini.
That got me thinking, why do North Indians prefer Radha over Rukmini?
I'm South Indian and I grew up only knowing Rukmini-Krishna. So i think that might explain my thought process more?

I feel Rukmini did have a bit of fire in her. Not too much like Bhama was, but enough to make people fold or question their life choices.
*cough* krishna *cough*
I hate it when people take one trait from a woman and make it their whole personality.
a love story like shri krishna and maharani rukmini >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
That one scene in Bajirao Mastani where kashibai and bajirao are talking about rukmini and krishna hits different...
I'm a Ruku-Kanha (Rukmini and Krishna) shipper and I'll die with it.
I didn't like Satyabhama
Hear me out before you cancel me for this
The Krishnavataram movie was really well done, but I hate how they characterized satyabhama. Sure, Sanskruti did an amazing job, but that's not the point
Satyabhama, in the texts, was a proud and confident woman. She loved Krishna and knew her place as his wife, and never showed any sort of hostility towards the other women he married.
What matters is that she was CONFIDENT in her love for him.
Satyabhama in the movie is just an insecure girl who's too possessive of her husband and refuses to acknowledge that Krishna loved many, and vice versa.
The first half of the movie was just her being jealous of Radha-Krishna in Vrindavan/Barsana, and the intermission part was her crying and whining about Rukmini-Dwarakadhish. But suddenly, in the second half, she remembers that she is Bhudevi, and then goes back to being jealous and whiny. Half the movie was her trying to be Radha until Rukmini called her out for that.
In the end, she even calls out Rukmini by saying "you may be the Yadavas' Lakshmi, but I alone am Krishna's dear", like what? I know that the irl Bhama wouldn't dare to say that to Rukmini, because:
1. they love and respect each other like sisters
2. they BOTH are lakshmi
3. Krishna will be upset (and definetely make a fuss like a toddler. he's capable)
I was upset that Bhama's character development, post the narakasura incident went down the drain. The thulabhara story showed had enough to develop her and she showed it in her compassion towards the 16,100 women. But after that they just threw it away.
If you wanna make her the center, don't ruin her actual character
I think the story was not adapted from OG canon but from a book by Raam Mori, a literary fiction writer, that is why all of these things were added. But still the "yadav lakshmi, haripriya" line sent me. What the fuck. My flabbers were gasted. Hopefully part 2 is better.
Ironically RukminiShyam were my favourite part of the entire thing🥰.
Also I wished they showed the whole vrindavan/barsana affair portraying kanha and radha as CHILDREN. Because they weren't grown adults, they were like what, 10 year olds😭 but oh well. ( i read that it was portrayed like that because Bhama only knew an Adult krishna that is why she imagined them like that)
I understand that it was fictional and I also understand that the radhe-krishna sequences can be brushed off as her imagination, but for 95% of the movie, bhama was being a whiny, jealous prick. WDYM SHE GOT JEALOUS THAT KRISHNA WENT TO DRAUPADI'S SWAYAMVAR? That's not the bhama we know and love so much...

I'm sorry but why was my favorite scene the one before the intermission when bhama is running to welcome krishna, but she sees him married to rukmini and runs away? I think it's because of the drama, the sets, cinematography and obviously Ruku-kanha...
Why is it only Siddharth and Sanskruti going on promotional tours? Where's sushmitha? Nivaashiyni? That one interview is not enough. I need more of them.
