Ten favorite characters from ten different fandoms
(Mimikip is the main blog, hello there!)
Desmond Sycamore/ Jean Descole || Professor Layton Series: I 100% blame Ace for this current obsession (I know you'll read this you goober <3). Okay- first of all, Desmond's character is methodical while also embracing little moments of excitement with Layton. The way they animated him when solving a puzzle should not be so damn cute but it is. The subtle reveal of his past is a nice touch as well, leaving the player to infer about just how ruined his life really is thanks to the Azran. Then you add Descole on top of that. Descole is so dramatic and one giant wet cat I love them sm. They also give heavy Phantom vibes from POTO (bless you Eternal Diva), which resonates with me as I love how impulsive they get with their anger. Descole's story is hinted throughout the prequels in little ways with some of the other characters' similarities and all comes together at the end and it makes me fucking vibrate. There's so much to explore with both Desmond and Descole. I don't think I'll be over this man any time soon.
Ordis || Warframe: For those unaware, Ordis is a fully sentient intelligence, a Cephalon, that runs the ship of the player. He is basically anxiety incarnate, but he does genuinely care about our safety and well-being. To access any of his story, the player has to complete the Cephalon Fragments and I mean all of it. I won't spoil anything, but his story, his life before Ordis, is tragic and bitter. There is so much hidden depth to this adorable little guy, it's actually insane. I will leave you with one name if you wish to know more: Ordan Karris.
Inspekta || Great God Grove: This guy. This fucking worm. I love his stupid slinky ass. And I don't just say this because I voice him in my friend's youtube playthrough. Inspekta is the god of leadership who lost sight of his original intentions. He was once a person who inspired others, who gave people something to work towards. The spotlight boosted his ego so much that when it came time to add another god to the pantheon, he grew jealous and feared he would be forgotten. His own bitterness led to his undoing. I love it when characters who start as these unsuspecting good guys are really the twist villains the entire time. And it's not entirely for malicious reasons either. Inspekta was afraid, and that fear is what drove him into despair and anger. (partially why I love Des asjhdsaj)
Luka || Bayonetta Series: Some people find Luka annoying, which is a valid opinion, but I find him rather endearing. He's persistent in his goal of uncovering the truth, he'll travel through danger for the one he loves, he's protective of little Cereza and his own daughter, quite knowledgeable, and he's a romantic at heart. Reminds me of a certain oc of mine (glances at the main face of the blog 👀)
Lysandre || Pokemon XY/ ZA: (I feel like I'm doing a Hear Me Out cake rn) Lysandre was my first official Pokémon villain in the games, even though my heart will always belong to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. I will admit I despised him at first in XY. His view of a perfect world became so horribly corrupted because all he saw were the negative effects of people's actions. He ended up dragging Team Flare into ruin because of his warped views, and it was implied that he died in XY. AND THEN ZA HAPPENS. Five years later, this guy comes back because Zygarde said “nuh uh” and gave him the immortality punishment to pay for his sins. It's a twisted redemption but he does genuinely want to make up for what he's done despite having no memory. He's cursed to live out his days like AZ, which is a befitting punishment for his crimes. Idk I just think he's neat and should be bullied more.
Strahd von Zarovich || Curse of Strahd, DnD: I don't have much to say on this. Gothic vampire lord that's really evil and also really hot. … I like sexy vampires. Don't look at me.
Death || Discworld/ Terry Pratchett: I specifically put Death on this list because they're given a personification. Death is wise, a bit sarcastic and sassy, has an actual home, has had an adopted child and even an apprentice, who married and gave Death a granddaughter. Death doesn't have to be bitter and cold. They can care for the lives they watch over, and they can have those connections with other gods and people.
Vash The Stampede || Trigun: I love Vash. He does his best to live by the morals and principles of his role model- never take the life of another. Does he still commit violence? Yes, but it's not lethal. He does it to save others; he fights back to survive. The moment he had to kill someone? It completely shattered him. It was only through the actions of another sticking up for him, for validating his actions and his morals, that he was able to come back from the brink of his sorrows. He fights for what he believes in, no matter the type of foe he faces.
Morpho Knight || Kirby Series: I have so much trauma with this damn butterfly. Ever since Return to Dreamland, this butterfly has had a strange significance, and it finally came together in Star Allies. Morpho is a manifestation of a corrupted soul mixed with the purity of light- the butterfly. Together, they form the spectral knight of judgement, sent to test Kirby's might and worthiness before the true final boss. Morpho butterflies can symbolize the soul, transformation, and death, giving Morpho Knight a grim reaper-esque vibe.
Percy de Rolo || Vox Machina: Taliesin Jaffe really said ‘let’s give the traumatised and demon-possessed man a gun and a revenge complex'. Seriously though, I adore Percy. He sought revenge on his tormenters, the ones who killed his family and destroyed his life, and in turn, it drove him down a dark path fueled by a demon's desires. When it came time to actually kill one of the villains, his companions argued against it. Then they became the targets of Percy's vengeance. That moment Vex says “Darling, take off the mask” and reveals Percy's sobbing, tear-streaked face, you can really see how deeply he's hurting the entire time, how he had no one until now, and that the demon is really the one pulling his strings. It's love that pulls him back, and it's that found family who puts him back together.
