I'll admit, I was worried going in - Disney animated sequels have been doing a weird thing of splitting up duos for the last few years, and the movie does open with them struggling over their differences. But the whole point ended up being them working past those and reaching common ground and the fact that they care about each other so much it hurts and I love that with my whole heart.

But the thing that has me more than anything else is like; they love each other. They care about each other more than anyone else in the entire world. The other being in danger or them not being together is the thing both are absolutely most afraid of. And they outright say it; Nick even just says, outright, "I love you".

And yet it's not romantic. Or at least it doesn't seem to be. There's no flirting there's no comments about them dating nobody even mentions it aside from one anniversary joke. They're super physically affectionate but it's all hugging - and I love that. I'm sure Disney just wants to keep it ambiguous for one marketing reason or another but from where I'm sitting it's actually really special.

They're partners and they love each other but it isn't romantic, and that's okay it's still meaningful and important it's literally the heart of the story. Love doesn't need romance - they just love each other and that's all there is and nothing's lesser for it. I can't read them as anything other than a queerplatonic couple now and I just feel like that's incredibly special to see in media, even if it wasn't the intent.

This line is said maybe two or three times throughout the Frozen stage musical, aka Frozen: The Broadway Musical. Pabbie says it the first time in the beginning after Elsa accidentally hits Anna in the head with her ice.

Their parents, and I’m thinking of Agnarr specifically, interpret this message as a warning not for Elsa, but for everyone else. Perhaps not Iduna as much seeing as her people worked with and were surrounded by magic and magical beings. But Agnarr absolutely hears this and thinks, “If the people learn of my daughter’s powers, they will grow to fear her and she will end up killing them all or herself. Or both.” He thinks that if she hides her powers then no one will be able to accuse her of anything and it will keep his daughter safe.

That is not what the message is saying, however. This is obviously meant to say that if Elsa learns to fear her powers, and herself, then she will not be able to control it and will end up killing everyone. If Agnarr and Iduna had taken the time to teach her to use her powers and grow the kingdom accustomed to their magical daughter, then none of Frozen would have happened. They could have lived a wonderful life.

Now, not to say Pabbie didn’t make the mistake of technically kinda telling them to hide her magic as well. He removed Annas memories of Elsas magic, thereby making it seem as if thats the path that should be taken when in reality it’s not. I don’t believe Pabbie understood the message either if I’m being honest. He seems to also think that hiding Elsas powers is the right way to go, somehow. I think if the writers wanted to make it more interesting, they could have done it in a way where Pabbie obviously meant for them to teach her, but the parents did not understand that or disagreed.
