a sideblog with information and aesthetics pertaining to 𝑂𝐼𝑅𝐹𝐸́𝐴𝑆. exploring the human spirit, hope for change and brighter days, the art of music and poetry, and a task doomed to failure no matter how many times it’s trialed.

001: this is an independent and rather private portrayal of the legendary orpheus; i pull from varying sources, retellings while doing my best to stay true to the original myth as well as variations. my main inspiration is, of course, hadestown.

002. as far as mannerisms and the musical role goes; i refer to the hadestown west end original casting (dónal finn etc.) as they’re my personal favorite. every well known take on orpheus has their own qualities. i don’t care who your favorite is and who isn’t and i certainly don’t tolerate any direct or indirect hate towards men of color who’ve played orpheus. (ie: thinking jordan fisher is ‘too loud’ without any actual constructive criticism.)

003. i can be fickle both in and out of character, i tend to forget to reply to messages. it’s never personal, and it’s never personal! i have adhd and fall into pits of nothingness, rendering holding conversations to be rather difficult if not about an immediate interest. discord is always available to my mutuals upon request, however!

004. please do not interact with me if you partake in fandoms such as: harry potter, the last of us, the boys, stranger things, attack on titan etc. multi muses are not an exception. general bigotry will also earn a block from me. please don’t be weird. fuck ice. freedom to every country currently experiencing terrible conditions and genocide.

005. the best way to interact with me is via prompts! i don’t mind if they come ‘late’ or if you send more than one. i tend to do so as well to give variety.

006. as far as any sort of relationships go, orpheus will always be threaded by fate to esmé’s eurydice. it will always be eurydice. this is not to say i’m not open to something involved before their story, it would simply take a lot of plotting and out of character chemistry. lover boy of all lover boys.

007. excessive negativity, vague posting will also earn separation from myself. I don’t see merit in relying on strangers for support in a consistent manner. general out of character posting doesn’t bother me, obviously!

NAME: orpheus.

GENDER: cis male.

PRONOUNS: he and him.

AGE: eternal; appears late twenties.

ROLE: the poet, the tragic hero.

OCCUPATION: a well renowned bard and poet, a prophet on some cases.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: curly brown hair, pale and freckled skin and heavy lidded eyes. tall stature, expressive features.

SEXUALITY: bisexual; though the label is unbeknownst to a man with a big heart.

PLACE OF BIRTH: orpheus is rather timeless, though hails from greece.

ETHNITICY: irish.

PARENTS: calliope and king. oeagrus

SPOUSE: the woodland nymph, eurydice.t he love of his life and his muse. whom he spends mourning, whom he will always descend into the underworld for, no matter the cost.

OTHER: hermes; a guardian figure throughout time. persephone; the lady of the underground, who sees ruminants of her own lover in the young man, lost to his craft and weakened by doubt. hades; king of the underworld, a distant reflection of orpheus and who's heart bent for the poor boy's song.

HEIGHT: 6’1.

SPECIES: human. a demi-god in some verses.
