hannibal was right about will and i hate when people pretend otherwise. will is not simply a product of hannibal’s abuse. hannibal specificity chose to pursue him because he saw not only wills ability to understand him, but also his similarity to hannibal (which is why in episode one, before anything happens, he calls him a mongoose he wants under his house when the snakes slither by or whatever). he has always seen wills true self despite will’s attempts to repress it. which is why before he even got encephalitis, he admitted to having enjoyed killing hobbs. it made him feel powerful and he felt no remorse. he didn’t think of hobbs as his victim, just as dead. which is also why hobb’s last words of: “see? see?” continue to haunt will. he does see. he understands that killing feels good. he understands hobbs beyond his empathy disorder, so much so that he almost mentally becomes him. he takes his roll as abigail’s “father” because of the tie he felt towards hobbs. mentally, hobbs represents the side of will that he’s running from. he is will’s proof that he wasn’t the man he thought he was. so no, will wasn’t made into a killer by hannibal. although hannibal did have to continuously break him in order to make him give up on adapting and blending into society, he was always a killer.
