Lyme disease has grown steadily in MN over the past 7 years at a 6% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) ▪︎ 12 MN counties are in Top 100 counties ranked by growth. ▪︎ Martin Cty has the fastest CAGR in tick-borne diseases (TBD) of 48.7%. ▪︎ Ranks 15th nationally ▪︎ MN has 16 counties in the Top 100 by incidence rate (IR) of TBD. ▪︎ The IR is the number of cases per 100,000 population. ▪︎ 2 counties (Wadena and Beltrami) are in both Top 100 lists (shown in black).
Although the WI statewide incidence rate (IR) of tick-borne diseases ranks 6th among the Top 15 states, it has the highest median county IR (135.1). ▪︎ Contains 41 of the Top 100 US Counties ranked by IR. ▪︎ Marquette County has the highest IR (464.6) of TBD in Wisconsin and ranks #4 in all US counties. ▪︎ Contains 18 of the Top 100 counties ranked by growth. ▪︎ 6 counties are on both Top 100 lists, more than any other state. (Only 20 counties overall are on both lists.)
Tick-borne diseases are broadly well-established in Maryland. ▪︎ The statewide incidence rate (IR) is 23.2. (#10 on the list of 15 states.) ▪︎ Maryland has two counties in the Top 100 growth list. ▪︎ At the western end of the state, Garrett county had no reported tick-borne disease cases in 2011. ▪︎ Maryland apparently does not track any other tick-borne diseases besides Lyme disease.Â

Martha’s Vineyard & Nantucket #1 in US with an astounding tick-borne disease (#TBD) incidence rate (IR) of 715. ▪︎ 6 of 13 counties in Top 100 IR. ▪︎ None in Top 100 growth, although Massachusetts has an 8% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in Lyme disease over the past 7 years. (At this rate Lyme disease doubles every decade.) ▪︎ Counties with fastest growing IR of tick-borne diseases are Franklin (27% CAGR), Suffolk (19% CAGR) and Berkshire (15% CAGR)
The main story in VA is the rapid growth of tick-borne diseases (TBD) over the past 7 yrs. ▪︎ Pattern of incidence suggests a north to south growth. ▪︎ VA has 28 counties on the Top 100 growth list, the most of any state. ▪︎ Top 5 growth counties all in VA and have an avg CAGR of 73.4%. If unchecked will produce a 50x increase over 7 yrs. ▪︎ Warren county is a member of both the Top 100 growth and Top 100 Incidence Rate (IR) list.

New England 23+% past 7 years ▪︎ NH–21.9% VT–35.1% ME–19.5% ▪︎Bennington County VT has the 2nd highest incidence (IR = 511) of TBD in US ▪︎ Only 20 counties in the US in both Top 100 Growth and Top 100 IR groups. VT & NH have 6 of those counties. ▪︎ NH has a small proportion of non-Lyme TBD (4.5%) VT does not track TBD other than Lyme.

9 of 16 Maine counties are in either Top 100 Growth or Top 100 Incidence Rate (IR). ▪︎ Knox County is in both Top 100 groups ▪︎ The 7 high-growth counties have averaged a 32% CAGR in tick-borne diseases over the past 7 years. ▪︎ 7 counties will see a doubling of tick-borne diseases by 2014. ▪︎ Overall, Lyme disease has grown with a CAGR of 20% over the past seven years. At this growth rate, Lyme disease in Maine doubles every 4 years.
Non-#Lyme #tick-borne diseases (#TBD) have increased to the point where they are nearly 50% of the cases in #RI. ▪︎ Only 4 counties in the United States have non-Lyme cases greater than 50% of TBD. RI has 2 of those counties. (MN has the other 2.) ▪︎ #Rhode #Islandsits at the center of the Northeast pockets of non-Lyme TBD.
