She grunted as she sat on the bed, sighing as her legs finally gave her respite. The babies cooed as they joined her and the purple one crouched in front of her, massaging her ankles.

“Hmm, it seems that knowing when to stop before exacerbating herself is also something she does not know how to do.” He said. “We’ll have to keep a closer eye on her health in the future. Especially in the next few months.”

“Well, good thing she doesn’t really need to walk much.” The orange one replied. “I mean, she-”

He paused mid sentence when she suddenly tensed, her nose sniffing the air. She could smell someone. Someone who wasn’t one of them. Someone who was a human. There was a human close to the lair, close to the nest. She left a series of growling chirps, warning them of the intruders in the hopes that they would take care of the threats. She couldn’t really do it herself while being pregnant, and she knew that at least some of them knew how to fight. She hoped anyway.

“What’s wrong, mama?” The purple one wondered. “Is someone coming?”

“I hear them too.” The blue one added, a hand on the handle of his blade.
