BRUISE VIOLET

When I finished uni I looked at the long stretch of summer and thought "shit". I really couldn't have been more wrong. 

Amazingly I finished my first year with a 2:1, something I really did not expect after hating 50% of my course. Thankfully my portfolio in one of my modern literature modules scored a first which pulled up my grade - I'm still totally relieved about it. It doesn't count but I literally hate failure or feeling like I haven't achieved what I'm capable of. 

I did a week at The Westmorland Gazette which got me thinking seriously about journalism. I had such an incredible week and it's made me even more excited to go to the North West Evening Mail in August. 

Entering the Big Blogger competition with Cumbria Live has been one of the best decisions I've made. I'm in the top 5 and the competition ends next week. I was sent to review a burlesque night which was published in the newspaper, and I'm off to review THE DAMNED (!!!) this Thursday also for publication. I can now officially call myself a published writer thanks to this competition. Even if I don't come first it's still given me amazing experience and I've loved competing. I will be genuinely sad when it's over! 

On top of that, I've finally got around to setting up my fashion / beauty / lifestyle blog. It's great to be back blogging after 2 years or so off the radar. I blogged with about 100 followers on Luxe Rose for about a year and a half... My new blog has only been going a week and it's already got 70 followers. Blogging has changed so much, it's so much easier to get your words out to people now. When I get to 100 followers I'll be doing a giveaway with some exciting stuff! 

So... On my CV will be published articles, work experience at two papers, experience of blogging for Cumbria Live & coming in the top bloggers of the county, and my own fashion/beauty website. 

I guess life picks up even when you least expect it!
