Few skaters can claim to have made their mark on history more than Japan's Mao Asada. Credited as one of the best female skaters of all time, Asada was renowned for the brilliance of her combined athleticism and artistry, wowing crowds around the world with her iconic triple axels, intricate step sequences, elegant spirals, and creative spins. Throughout the span of her 18-year career, Asada became the 2010 Olympic silver medalist, a three-time World champion, a three-time Four Continents champion, a four-time Grand Prix Final champion, and a six-time Japanese national champion. Asada has also been recognized for setting three world records in her senior career as well as being the first-ever singles Asian skater to win multiple World championships.

BREAKTHROUHG OF THE SEASON : alysanne carreño, venezuelan skater, wins the first winter olympic medal for the country
ㅤㅤㅤㅤborn and raised in venezuela, alysanne didn't step on ice until she was seven years, a week after she moved to the uk. I know what you're thinking, “how the hell did she win the olympics if she started late for an elite skater?” you see, my child: alys comes from a very active family, the first time she was introduced to a sport (swimming) was when she was only one year old, and as she grew up she couldn't stay still for more than two seconds, so, in order to drain the amount of energy she had, her parents also signed her up for ballet, gymnastics and baseball.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤfast forward to february 2014, her mother was watching the ladies' figure skating, alysanne was playing with her ds, next to her. at some point, a piano called her attention, the child raised her head and was hypnotized by yuna kim skating to adiós nonino for 4 minutes and 10 seconds. since then, she started to annoy her parents, asking them to sign her up for figure skating; sadly for alysanne, in her country the sport is not practiced, so she was signed up for inline skating instead. and after that she never took those skates off.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤwhen they finally moved to the uk in 2017, the first she did, basically, was running to the closest ice rink to her house. during her first lesson, she had an impressive fast progress, attracting the attention of her coach, the rest is history.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤTHE OLYMPIC SEASON
ㅤㅤknown for her complicated step sequences and musicality, the already once junior world champion dominated the entire season. after the end of the season, she announced that she would take a break for the rest of the year and then the next one in order to enjoy her last years of high school.
during this season, the 2024 youth olympic champion, joined yuna kim and alina zagitova as the only three figure skaters to achieve the SUPER SLAM ( SS ) and the first south american to do so. her program repertoire this year included an orchestral arrangement of the venezuelan classic " alma llanera " in the short program, a shortened version of sensemayá in the free and mambo from west side story for the gala exhibition.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ. . . the aftermath or the heart stealing
ㅤㅤㅤㅤafter such fabulous months, alysanne had to go back to her daily life. where was she now...? oh right, tokyo. I forgot to mention that, but let's say it was because script requirements, okay? the student exchange started in april of 2025, when she met ryuji sakamoto, a fellow classmate and track runner, who she warmed up to really fast to, especially after kamoshida destroyed the track team.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤfast forward (again) to april 13, 2026. first day of 2nd year. it's 12 pm, school ends at 16:30, and for some reason ryuji is absent, which is... weird, at the very least. turns out, the guy was in a palace, where kamoshida was also at and he nearly killed ryuji and the new guy from another class. the confusion didn't last for long, because a week later, she entered the metaverse too.
