Soooo I just got the full story about this whole "[insert ffxiv npc name] is [insert sexuality] wtf with these people shipping [said character] with their [non compatible gender] wol??" drama and the content creator in the center is *check notes* claiming to suffer homophobia because *double check notes* people are pointing out that this is his HEADcanon and ACTUAL canon never confirms nor denies anything and is another void the devs left behind to players to fill in and engage more.

I really wasn't going to put my feet into this lake, but as I looked into their tumblr to grasp an idea of how deep the water really goes I got caught by a major thing I just couldn't sit still anymore.
Like, one of the main reasons this person, and so many others that agree with them (as far as I could read), go on about why it is canon (when really isn't) that a character is gay (aka would never be with a woman) it was because... and i can't belive my eyes... _looks like it_. That the character CLEARLY acts queer and specifically GAY. Therefore, canon, and everyone doing hetships are disgusting.

I recently was informes the Exarch in shb says "watching the wol fight is like watching a stripper". And this doesn't change depending on your char gender. They all flirt with the wol. But the game doesn't push one or another because the devs know people fanfic and the community engage a lot with OCs and headcanons.
