โ โ โ โ โ โ โ Zayne
Zayne sat in the doctorโs lounge, his phone pressed to his ear as he listened to the call ring. Once. Twice. Thenโ
Call Declined.
His brows furrowed slightly. His hands, steady enough to perform the most delicate heart surgeries, tightened around the phone. He tried again.
Ring. Ring.
Call Declined.
Zayne exhaled slowly through his nose, his grip relaxing, Maybe you were busy. You were probably playing with Elias or cooking dinner Mayne in the shower? He wasnโt the type to overthink, but something about the repeated declines made his stomach twist in a way he wasnโt happy about.
Still, he didnโt want to be a nuisance or cause you unnecessary troubles. He wasnโt the type to text โCall meโ like other husbands either, He just sat there for a moment, staring at his phone, before getting up and heading back to work.
He had patients waiting.
Back home, Elias sat cross-legged on the couch, his tiny fingers curled around your phone. Every time it vibrated, his eyes narrowed, and without hesitation, he pressed the red button.
โPapaโs calling,โ you pointed out, watching from the kitchen as Elias, without a second thought, hung up again.
He didnโt say a word. Just held the phone like a little dragon hoarding treasure.
You wiped your hands on a towel and walked over, sitting beside him. โSweetheart, why are you declining Papaโs calls?โ
Elias finally looked up at you. His expression was unreadableโso much like Zayneโs that it almost made you laugh. After a moment, he mumbled, โHeโs busy.โ
You blinked. โThatโs why youโre hanging up on him?โ
A short nod.
Your heart softened. Elias was a quiet child, much like his father, and even at four years old, he had an odd way of thinking. He wasnโt upset. He wasnโt being stubborn. In his little mind, he just thought he was helping.
You smiled and ran a hand through his soft raven colored hair. โBaby, Papa wouldnโt call if he didnโt want to talk. Heโs probably on a break and missing us.โ
Elias frowned slightly, as if the thought hadnโt occurred to him. He shifted on the couch, staring at the phone. โโฆOh.โ
You chuckled. โShould we call him back?โ
Elias hesitated, then nodded.
Zayne was halfway through reviewing a patientโs chart when his phone vibrated.
Incoming Call: My Love
His fingers moved instinctively, answering before the first ring finished. โHello?โ
โPapa.โ
Zayne blinked. It wasnโt you. It was Elias.
The little voice on the other end sounded almostโฆ guilty?
โElias.โ Zayne glanced at the time. โYou should be in bed soon.โ
A pause. Then, in a quieter voice, โโฆI hung up your calls.โ
Zayne froze. He hadnโt expected that. His first instinct was to ask why, but before he could, Elias continued.
โYou were busy. I didnโt wanna bother you.โ
Zayneโs grip on the phone tightened. He looked down at his hands, But right now, his own heart ached in a different way.
He wasnโt good with words. Never had been. But there was one thing he knew.
โElias.โ His voice was firm, steady. โYou never bother me.โ
Another pause.
Then, a quiet, โโฆOh.โ
Zayne exhaled. โIs Mama there?โ
You took the phone, laughing softly. โYour son thought he was being considerate.โ
Zayne pinched the bridge of his nose. โOf course he did.โ His voice was softer than usual. โTell him he can always pick up my calls.โ
โI think he understands now.โ You turned to Elias, who was now curled against your side, looking deep in thought. โSay goodnight to Papa.โ
Elias hesitated, then muttered, โGoodnight, Papa.โ
Zayne swallowed. He wished he was home.
โGoodnight, Elias. Iโll see you in the morning.โ
When Zayne finally stepped through the door that night, the house was quiet. You were already in bed, and Elias was asleep in his room.
Or so he thought.
As he passed Eliasโ door, a tiny voice mumbled, โโฆfather?โ
Zayne stopped. Slowly, he pushed the door open.
Elias was sitting up in bed, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
Zayne hesitated. He wasnโt good at this. But he walked inside, sitting on the edge of the bed. โShouldnโt you be asleep?โ
Elias didnโt answer. Instead, he reached out with his small hands and grabbed onto Zayneโs sleeve. Not saying anything, justโฆ holding on.
Zayne stared at him before sitting on the edge of his bed.
Then, without a word, he gently rested a hand on his sonโs head.
It wasnโt much.
But for them, it was enough.
โ โ โ โ โ โ โ Xavier
Xavier stood in the middle of a blood-soaked battlefield, his sword still dripping as he exhaled. The fight had been over in minutesโanother nest of Wanderers cleared out.
He wasnโt in a hurry to return to headquarters. Instead, he yawned and pulled out his phone, pressing your number.
Ring. Ring.
Call Declined.
Xavier stared at the screen, brow twitching slightly. That was odd. He tried again.
Call Declined.
The corner of his mouth twitched. He wasnโt a man prone to overreaction, but something about his own family declining his calls irritated him. He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. Maybe you were busy. Maybeโ
He teleported.
One second, he was in a ruined village surrounded by monster corpses. The next, he was in the living room of his own home.
The sight that greeted him made his left eye twitch.
Leo and Liviaโhis five-year-old twinsโwere sitting on the couch, your phone between them, giggling.
Livia saw him first. Her eyes widened, and she smacked Leoโs arm. โAbort mission! Papaโs here!โ
Leo nearly dropped the phone. โCrap.โ
Xavier didnโt speak for a moment. He simply stared, exhausted, disappointed, and vaguely impressed all at once. โโฆYou two.โ
The twins immediately shot to their feet, but it was too late. He was already in front of them, towering over their tiny forms. His sword was still strapped to his back, his hunter uniform stained with dried Wanderer blood.
They didnโt look scared. If anything, they looked ready to bolt.
โโฆExplain.โ His voice was even, calmโbut that made it worse.
The twins exchanged glances before Livia, ever the mastermind, said, โMom said you were busy!โ
Leo nodded rapidly. โYeah! You were fighting monsters, right? We didnโt wanna bother you!โ
Xavier sighed through his nose, rubbing his temples. โYou declined my calls.โ
Livia pouted. โWellโฆ yeah.โ
He inhaled deeply. He was not good at this. Discipline, affectionโnone of it came naturally to him. He could gut a monster in seconds, but parenting? That was an entirely different battlefield.
He crossed his arms, giving them a firm look. โThatโs not happening again.โ
Leo groaned. โBut why? You never talk much anyway!โ
Xavier blinked. He squatted down to their level, eyes narrowing. โYou have a death wish, donโt you?โ
Livia elbowed Leo. โIdiot. Now weโre really in trouble.โ
Xavier pinched the bridge of his nose, exhausted beyond belief. He should just pick them up and force them into a timeoutโhe had the strength for it. But before he could, Livia clapped her hands together.
โLeo, Plan B!โ
Leo gasped. โYes, Plan B!โ
Xavier frowned. โWhat theโโ
Before he could react, Livia sprinted left while Leo ran right.
Teleportation was an option, but honestly? He was too damn tired. He just sighed and walked toward the kitchen, knowing exactly where theyโd end up.
And there you were, standing at the counter, watching the chaos unfold like it was a normal Tuesday.
Without looking at him, you asked, โI take it you figured out why your calls werenโt getting through?โ
Xavier leaned against the counter, exhaling. โYour kids are demons.โ
You raised a brow. โMy kids?โ
He gave you a tired look. โThey didnโt get it from me.โ
Before you could argue, the sound of a crash echoed from upstairs.
A beat of silence. Then Leoโs voice: โIโLL FIX IT, I PROMISE!โ
Xavier closed his eyes, counting to ten.
An hour later, the twins sat on the couch, pouting as Xavier stood in front of them. He wasnโt a loud father. He didnโt yell. But his silent disappointment was somehow worse.
โYouโre not getting out of this,โ he finally said.
Livia crossed her arms. โIt was for a good reason.โ
โIt was for a stupid reason.โ
Leo kicked his legs. โBut we didnโt wanna distract you.โ
Xavier sighed, rubbing his face. โโฆYouโre my kids. You can always talk to me.โ
Livia blinked. โEven when youโre fighting monsters?โ
He crouched down, staring at them. โEspecially then.โ
For the first time, the twins looked guilty.
Xavier softened just a fraction. He wasnโt great at showing affection to kids. He wasnโt the type to hug them randomly or constantly hold them. But he reached out, ruffling their hair roughly or cuddle up with his little demons.
โNext time you hang up on me, Iโm making you run laps.โ
Leo gasped. โThatโs child labor!โ
Livia clutched her chest. โYouโre cruel, Father.โ
Xavier stood, sighing. โYouโll live.โ
That night, when the twins were asleep, Xavier sat beside you in bed, rubbing his temples.
โI donโt know how to handle them.โ
You smiled, playing with his hair. โYouโre doing fine.โ
He scoffed. โThey donโt listen to me at all.โ
You chuckled. โThey do. They just like pushing your buttons.โ
Xavier sighed, leaning into your touch. โโฆNext time they ignore my calls, Iโm teleporting them into a cold lake.โ
You laughed, pressing a kiss to his forehead. โSure you are.โ
Xavier didnโt respond. He just yawned, closed his eyes, and finallyโfinallyโslept.

โ โ โ โ โ โ โ Sylus
Sylus sat in his office, fingers drumming against the desk as he stared at his phone. His calls kept going to voicemail. No, not voicemailโhis calls were being declined.
He narrowed his eyes, dialing again.
"Come on, sweetheart, pick up," he muttered under his breath.
The phone rang once. Twice. Thenโ
Call declined.
Sylus exhaled sharply through his nose, irritation prickling beneath his skin. He had told you to keep your phone close. You were out running errands, and he didnโt like when he couldnโt reach you. With the kind of business he ran, being unreachable meant something could be wrong.
Still, he tried again.
Declined.
His jaw tightened.
This time, instead of calling again, he switched to texting.
Sylus: Sweetheart, answer your phone.
No response.
A muscle in his jaw twitched. He was about to send luke and kieran. Then, A message.
Your Number: No.
Sylus blinked.
No?
His fingers immediately moved to type, but before he could, another message came through.
Your Number: Go away.
His eyes narrowed. That didnโt sound like you. Not exactly. What happened to you? Did E.V.E.R get their hands on you?
His phone rang. A video call.
He answered immediately, expecting to see your face. Instead, a small figure appeared on the screen, curled up on your side of the bed, holding your phone in tiny hands. Their round face scrunched up in annoyance.
"Daddy," Elena huffed. "Stop calling Mommy."
Sylus let out a slow breath, his irritation flickering into something amused. "Is that why my calls are being declined?"
Elena nodded, her little fingers tapping at the screen. "Youโre too loud. Mommyโs busy. She said sheโll be home soon."
Sylus leaned back in his chair, rubbing a hand down his face. "Youโre hanging up on me, arenโt you?"
"Uh-huh," she said sweetly. "Bye-bye, Daddy. I wanna watch yutuube"
The call ended.
Sylus stared at his phone for a long moment, his amusement fading into something else. His little girl had declined himโmultiple times. And worse, she hadnโt even looked guilty about it.
With a sigh, he pushed back his chair and stood. Work could wait.
When Sylus stepped into the house, it was quiet.
He slipped off his jacket, draping it over the couch before making his way to the bedroom. The door was slightly open, and when he pushed it wider, he found his daughter still curled up in bed, your phone clutched in her small hands.
She looked up, her big red eyes widening when she saw him.
"Daddy!"
"Princess," Sylus said, voice slow, deliberate. He crossed the room and sat on the edge of the bed, watching as she quickly tucked the phone under the pillow. "I see youโve been busy."
She blinked, tilting her head. "Mommy is busy," she corrected.
"Is that so?" He reached forward and grabbed her, pulling her onto his lap despite her squeal of protest. "Now, tell me, Princess. What should I do with a little girl who ignores her father?"
She squirmed. "Nothing!"
"Nothing?" His grip tightened slightly, just enough to make her giggle again. "Are you sure about that?"
Elena kicked her legs, laughter bubbling up. "Okay! Okay! I wonโt do it again!"
Sylus smirked before giving her forehead a kiss. "Thatโs what I thought."
Just then, the sound of the front door opening made them both pause.
"Mommyโs home!" his daughter gasped, suddenly wiggling out of his grip. She scrambled off the bed and ran toward the door.
"Kids and their videos these days" Sylus let out an amused huff before going to greet you at the door.
โ โ โ โ โ โ โ Caleb
Caleb sat in his office, his uniform jacket draped over the back of his chair, sleeves rolled up as he stared at his phone. His brows furrowed as he hit redial.
Once. Twice.
Declined.
His jaw tensed.
He tried again.
Declined.
Caleb leaned back in his chair, exhaling through his nose. He knew you were out shopping, the messages were lighting up his phone
"thank you for your purchase at xxx store"
but you had given Noah the phone in case he needed anything, the shops were noisy and you couldn't hear the ringing
So why the hell was his own wife declining his calls, did something happen to you?
He dialed again. This time, instead of a decline, the call went throughโbut no one spoke. He could hear faint background noise, you were definitely outside.
"Y/n?" Caleb said, voice firm.
A beat of silence. Then, a small huff.
"Daddy, stop calling," Noah finally said.
Caleb blinked. "Excuse me?"
"Youโre calling too much," Noah complained. "Mommy said weโd call you if we needed something."
Caleb pinched the bridge of his nose. "And what if I need something, huh?"
Another pause. Then Noah sighed dramatically. "What do you need, Daddy?"
Oh, this littleโ
Caleb exhaled slowly, rubbing a hand over his face. "Put Mommy on the phone."
"No."
Caleb froze. "Noahโ"
"Mommyโs busy," Noah said in a tone that was far too smug for a four-year-old. "Sheโs looking at boring grown-up stuff. And youโre distracting us."
Caleb clenched his jaw. "I am your father, Noah."
"Yeah, I know," Noah said casually. "But Mommy said ugh, Caleb is calling again and told me to ignore it."
Calebโs eye twitched. "She said that?"
"Uh-huh."
"โฆAre you lying to me?"
A long pause. Then, a quiet, "Maybe."
Caleb let out a slow breath. "Noah."
Noah giggled, and before Caleb could say another word, the call ended, Caleb stared at the blank screen.
As soon as he stepped inside, he heard Noahโs laughter coming from the living room. He walked in to find him sprawled on the couch with a snack in hand, looking far too comfortable.
Noah turned his head, eyes widening when he saw Caleb. He immediately sat up, gripping the phone he had confiscated like it was a lifeline.
"Daddy!"
"Son," Caleb said, crossing his arms over his chest, his gaze held no mercy. "We need to talk."
Noah scrambled off the couch. "UhโMommy! Daddyโs home!"
Caleb caught him by the back of his shirt before he could escape. "Nice try, bud. You and I have unfinished business."
Noah wriggled in Calebโs grip, his small hands flailing. โI didnโt do anything!โ
Caleb arched a brow. โDidnโt do anything? Didnโt do anything?โ His voice was calm, but there was a dangerous edge to it. โSon, you declined my calls like I was some kind of scam number.โ
Noah squirmed harder. โYou called too much!โ
Caleb exhaled through his nose. โI called twice.โ
โExactly! Too much!โ
Caleb stared at him, unimpressed. โYouโre gonna stand here and tell me you had zero problem ignoring your father?โ
Noah hesitated. โUhhโฆโ His grip on the phone tightened. โI justโMommy was busy! And you always talk forever!โ
Caleb scoffed. โForever? I wouldโve been on for two minutes. Thatโs not forever.โ
Noah puffed his cheeks. โIt is when I was watching cartoons.โ
Caleb took a deep breath, rubbing a hand down his face. โI canโt believe this. My own son, my own blood, betraying me like this.โ
Noah huffed. โI had to, Daddy.โ
Caleb let out a dry chuckle, crouching so he was at Noahโs level. โHad to? Had to hang up on me? Where did you learn that, huh? You got someone else teaching you bad habits? That a bad influence I need to deal with?โ
Noah shifted guiltily. โNoooโฆโ
Caleb narrowed his eyes. โAre you lying to me again, Noah?โ
Noah swallowed. โMaybe.โ
โUnbelievable,โ Caleb muttered, shaking his head. He pointed at the phone clutched in Noahโs hands. โHand it over, soldier.โ
Noah gasped, gripping it tighter. โNo!โ
โI outrank you, kid,โ Caleb warned, voice low. โDonโt make me use my colonel voice.โ
Noahโs lips wobbled. โButโbutโโ
โThreeโฆ Twoโฆโ
With a dramatic whimper, Noah finally surrendered the phone. Caleb took it and stuffed it in his pocket. โNow, what do we say?โ
Noah shifted on his feet. โ...Sorry?โ
Caleb nodded. โThatโs right. And?โ
Noah sighed heavily, like Caleb was really putting him through it. โI wonโt hang up on you again.โ
Caleb smirked. โGood. Now, what should your punishment be?โ
Noah gasped. โPunishment?! Daddy, no! It was a mistake!โ
Caleb tapped his chin. โHmmโฆ I could make you do laps in the backyard. Maybe push-ups. Orโ" his eyes gleamedโ"no dessert for a week.โ
Noah gasped again, even more dramatically. โMommy!โ he wailed, turning toward the kitchen. โDaddyโs being a tyrant!โ
Before Caleb could grab him again, Noah sprinted off, his little legs carrying him as fast as they could.
A second later, you poked your head out of the bedroom, blinking. โWhatโs happening?โ
Caleb sighed, standing up. โYour son is staging a rebellion.โ
Noah clung to your leg. โMommy, Daddyโs bullying me!โ
You crossed your arms, raising an eyebrow at Caleb. โAre you bullying our son?โ
Caleb smirked. โTeaching him discipline.โ
Noah tugged your sleeve. โMommy, I was so good today.โ
Caleb barked a laugh. โYeah? Good at declining my calls.โ
You sighed, shaking your head. โCaleb, youโre an adult. You shouldnโt be getting into power struggles with a four-year-old.โ
Caleb scoffed. โHe started it.โ
Noah giggled from behind your leg.
You groaned, rubbing your temple. โYou two are exhausting.โ
Caleb smirked, stepping closer to wrap an arm around your waist. โAnd yet, you love us.โ
Noah nodded rapidly. โUh-huh! Right, Mommy?โ
You sighed, looking between them. โUnfortunately.โ
Caleb chuckled, pressing a quick kiss to your temple before ruffling Noahโs hair. โYouโre lucky your momโs here to protect you, kid.โ
Noah grinned up at him. โI know!โ
Caleb shook his head, amused. โUnbelievable.โ
โ โ โ โ โ โ Rafayel
You had been invited to an exclusive art exhibition downtownโone that featured some of Rafayelโs earlier works. Since he despised public events and would rather gouge his own eyes out than attend, and Thomas would respectfully gouge out rafayel's eyes if he did not attend, you went in his place, both to support him and to keep up appearances.
Seraphina, your four-year-old daughter, had come along for the car ride but quickly grew bored when you arrived. The moment she saw the endless rows of paintings and the adults murmuring about โartistic depthโ and โsymbolic brush strokes,โ she looked up at you, unimpressed.
โMommy, this is so boring.โ
You sighed, crouching down to smooth out her dress. โI know, sweetheart, but it wonโt take long. Daddy worked hard on these paintings, and I have to talk to some of the nice people here, okay?โ
Seraphina pouted. โBut I donโt care about paintings. I wanna watch cartoons.โ
You pulled out your phone and handed it to her. โHere. You can call Daddy if you need anything, alright?โ
Her eyes lit up as she clutched the phone. โOkay!โ
You smiled, kissing her forehead as you left her at the staff room and locked the door with your keycard so no one could enter other than Thomas, after everything was secure you turned toward the exhibition hall.
โ
Back home, Rafayel was in his studio, adding the final details to a massive canvas when his phone vibrated. He wiped the paint off his hands and glanced at the screen.
Landlubber ๐ is callingโฆ
A small smile tugged at his lips as he answered. โSweetheart, are you finished already?โ
Silence.
Thenโ
Click.
The call ended.
Rafayel blinked, staring at his phone.
What?
He lowered the device, then brought it back up, frowning. Had the signal dropped?
Before he could think too much about it, the phone vibrated again.
Landlubber ๐ is callingโฆ
He answered immediately. โSweetheart?โ
Silence.
Rafayel stared at the phone in disbelief.
What the hell is going on?
The phone buzzed again.
This time, he answered with narrowed eyes. โIf you hang up on me againโโ
โOh. Hi, Daddy.โ
Rafayel exhaled through his nose. โSeraphina.โ
His daughter hummed in acknowledgment.
โWhy are you calling me just to hang up?โ he asked, his voice carefully restrained. โIs everything alright?โ
โI didnโt hang up,โ she said cheerfully. โI was just checking.โ
โChecking what?โ
โIf youโd answer.โ
Rafayel pinched the bridge of his nose. โSeraphinaโโ
โI miss you, Daddy.โ
Rafayelโs frustration wavered, replaced with something softer.
He leaned against his desk, rubbing a hand down his face. โI miss you too, little fish.โ
โThen come get me.โ
Rafayel sighed, he could already imagine thomas chasing him down the exhibition โI canโt. Mommy is working in my place.โ
โBut Iโm not. Please daddyโ She whined.
โMommy will bring you home soon.โ
Seraphina made a displeased noise. โThatโs too long.โ
There was a pause. Then, her voice turned thoughtful. โDaddy?โ
โHmm?โ
โYouโre not painting without me, are you?โ
Rafayel glanced at his half-finished canvas. With a pause he answered. โOf course not.โ
Seraphina gasped. โYou are!โ
โI didnโt say that.โ โYou didnโt deny it!โ
Rafayel chuckled. โYou caught me.โ
Seraphina huffed. โThatโs not fair. You promised weโd paint together!โ
โAnd we will,โ he assured her. โIโll wait for you.โ
Another pause. Thenโ
โOkay. But no touching the pink paint.โ
โNo pink,โ Rafayel agreed solemnly.
โOr the sparkles.โ
โNo sparkles.โ
Seraphina hummed. โAlright. Youโre forgiven.โ
Rafayel smirked. โGood.โ
There was a brief silence before he heard her yawn.
โYou sleepy?โ he asked.
โโฆNo.โ
He smiled knowingly. โClose your eyes, little fish.โ
Seraphina whined. โBut I wanna talk to you.โ
โIโll still be here when you wake up.โ
โโฆPromise?โ
โPromise.โ
A beat of silence. Then, a soft rustling as Seraphina got comfortable.
โOkay,โ she murmured.
Rafayel listened to her breathing slow, his heart aching with warmth.
He didnโt hang up. Not yet.
Instead, he stayed on the line, listening to the quiet rise and fall of his daughterโs breath.
Minutes passed before he finally spoke.
โIโll come get you soon,โ he whispered.
Then, finally, he ended the call.
father caleb saying "i outrank you, kid" lmao why is that so funnyyyy ??

I am NOT beating these allegations
However I will say Absint is considerably more of a wet sock than Jeoan so he probably got that from his Astarion inspiration
