Deltarune Chapter 5 predictions after playing through ch3 and 4 again.
Carol wants to cause the roaring so Dess can live "normally". something happened to Dess for her to become the knight.
she is not "lost" in the code, the wording makes me think thats Asriel when he first fell into the dark world assuming there were once 3 heroes before our fuck squad, consisting of Dess (cage for human soul), Asriel (a monster), and a darkner (seam most likely?). more on this below.
instead, Dess is "Lost" like the way potential recruits can be "Lost" if you treat them badly. they cant return to Castle Town, so maybe smth happened to Dess where she cant return to the light world? that's why we need to Find Her.
Carol is not Finding Her, she's making others do the work for her for one. what Carol is doing is causing the Roaring so the whole world becomes a dark world so theres no distinction between the light and dark, the real and the ideal. because in the dark worlds "everything can be healed with a spell"... its just better. Dess could come back. Rudy would be okay. and this makes Carol's obsession with keeping her home well-preserved, for collecting material objects make total sense, because she knows these items will turn to darkners in a dark world. the sentimental value of objects is not lost on her either. she wants it to be the exact same and for everything to be the same as it was before. Frozen in time.
Bonus: Everything we know about Dess, the broken instruments, the rebellious attitude, the anger β does NOT indicate she'd be confused like the character in the code is. she would act more like Susie Ch1 instead of asking for anyone to come and save her. instead I propose that Asriel fell first into the dark world and was alone for a bit and the code is a remnant of that? perhaps Gaster recorded it because Asriel is one of the first enacters of the prophecy.
why Asriel? it cant be anyone aside from him and Dess because the code mentions "breakfast and late night TV" reminiscing on it. Both Dreemurr-Holidays were known to watch late night TV but ONLY the Dreemurrs were depicted eating breakfast (Ch4 intro). and again, reminiscing does not evoke Dess to me. shes more forward action. Asriel from what we know of him tends to be stuck in the past so even in immediate danger and unknown he would be comforted by his fond memories. we will surely know more soon in Ch5's iteration of the secret code anyhow.
