Background

Heir to a large criminal organization that works closely with Carthage

HOWEVER, he didn’t know this, as he was the last possible candidate (all other candidates died from accidents, assassinations, etc)

The reason why it has to be him is because he’s the only one smart enough to operate a supercomputer that they use to hijack/operate some large-scale magic-powered tech

(He soon finds out he’s the heir in name only; the senior members of the org have no intention of actually giving up power to him, but they also need him because he’s the only one who can use the supercomputer

So he uses that as leverage to get them to do what he wants, but he’s also bound to them; they’ll kill him if he tries to stop working for them)

Until this point, he lived an ordinary life, so he’s really unequipped to enter the criminal world

The person guiding and watching out for him as he acclimates (as well as the person who told him all this) was Franz Hopper

Jeremie never meets Franz Hopper in-person and only gets messages from him via phone, email, letter, etc

At first, he doubts him and thinks it’s spam/a lie, but then people actually start targeting him and he realizes it’s all true

However, before long, Hopper goes missing in an accident and Jeremie loses contact with him

Unlike the show, Jeremie lost his parents at a young age and was instead raised in an orphanage run by the Kadic Society

Due to his intelligence, he didn’t fit in well with the other kids

He was very lonely deep down, but tried to hide it by diving deep into his interests (programming, robotics, engineering, etc)

Shortly after finding out he’s the heir to a criminal org, he flees Kadic to protect the people living/working there, and runs into Aelita

They’re both attacked by people who are after them, but only manage to get away due to Aelita’s magic

As they go on the run, they learn more about each other and are guided by messages from Franz Hopper (Aelita doesn’t know he’s her father)

After learning about Aelita’s plight, Jeremie wants to help her and begrudgingly realizes the only way he can is to agree to work with the org that’s after him, in order to have the resources needed to help her

Not wanting to leave her alone, he eventually finds out that his group has connections to Carthage, and he recruits three bodyguards from Carthage to protect her, in exchange for Aelita signing a (fake) contract with them

The contract states that she’ll let them use her magic if they successfully protect her while she carries out her goal (the specifics of which Carthage isn’t privy to)

Aelita also puts Jeremie in contact with the Lyoko Federation, who helps him do what he can to protect/support Aelita and her bodyguards

Group Dynamics

The three Lyoko Warriors initially weren’t happy to be assigned to guard Aelita

First of all, why do they have to risk their lives protecting some stranger they don’t know?

At least Carthage was their home, and protecting it meant protecting each other

But worst of all, they were given this assignment because of some new guy outside of Carthage

Since when did they take orders from anyone else?

The three (especially Ulrich and Yumi) initially rebuff Jeremie and only begrudgingly listen to Aelita due to their work

However, they warm up to them when they see how genuinely good-hearted both Jeremie and Aelita are, and how they remain that way despite the cold way they’re treated

Actually protecting people who deserve to be protected fills them with a sense of purpose they’d never felt at Carthage, and they quickly grow attached to them

They especially sympathize with Aelita’s plight

She’s in so much danger all the time, but she’s still so sweet and plucky, and she’s always ready to sacrifice herself to protect them (which they’re never willing to let her do)

But they also admire Jeremie, who had to enter the criminal underground alone and figure out how to protect Aelita, while still remaining true to himself

When they share their real plan to find a way to protect more people like Aelita, the three of them are fully on board

Jeremie retains most of his Season 1 innocence and and playfulness, as his main antagonist is no longer an ultra-powerful AI that can cause catastrophic damage

He’s also no longer the only one who has to carry the team (he has the entire Lyoko Federation to help him out, as well as the criminal organization he’s forced to work for)

As he gets more frustrated/stressed, experiences more near-death situations, and becomes more confident in his decisions/taking risks, he does have snappy moments

But he quickly feels guilty afterwards and is never bitter for long

Like the show, he’s the strategist and the team’s mission control, but though he’s not the only one who can help them strategize (the entire Lyoko Federation helps them), the Lyoko Warriors really only take orders from Jeremie

They’ll listen to what the Federation workers say (especially if it’s for Aelita’s safety), but they’ll bristle if someone else tries to order them around, and if they go too long without hearing from Jeremie, they’ll start complaining

Initially, he avoided making any risky plays that endangered any of the LWs

The others were touched by it but eventually started to find it annoying

“We need to get the job done, and we can handle it. Stop worrying and just tell us what to do!”

As the antagonists get worse, Jeremie similarly learns how to be bolder and trickier, and more ruthless

In terms of Aelita, Jeremie is the one who checks up on her wellbeing the most, and is also the one she can confide in (as she is to him)

Unlike the show, he spends a lot of time away from Aelita and the LWs, doing what he can to help them from the Lyoko Federation/the criminal org in the city, while they travel the world

While he misses them, he dives into his work to support them and keep them as safe as possible

When the city is no longer safe for him to stay, he flees and seeks them out, and from then on, starts to travel with them

(Everyone is overjoyed to have him with them at last)

Despite being the youngest and having a lot of youthful innocence, displays a lot of wisdom at times

He’s the only one who can talk to Yumi on level ground and get her to actually admit what she’s really feeling (at least until her relationship with Ulrich develops)

Yumi will blow off the others when she’s angry/frustrated, but she has no choice but to listen to Jeremie, at first because he’s her employer, but later because he stays calm in response to her anger, which forces herself to calm down too

Aelita is also calm, but she meets Yumi’s frustrations with compassion, which feel good but don’t do much to solve the problem

Jeremie will respond with logic and next steps (and compassion too, but that’s usually after)

Abilities

This guy has enough smarts and resources to ruin your life if he wants to

Although he wants to avoid inheriting the criminal organization once everything is over, in the meantime he understands he wouldn’t be able to protect Aelita as effectively without them (especially once he betrays Carthage)

His goals and skills align themselves more with the Lyoko Federation, so his aim is to work with them in the future instead

One of the group’s major goals (along with protecting Aelita/others like her and defeating X.A.N.A) is to get Jeremie out of inheriting/working for the criminal org (which honestly is pretty easy compared to the other two goals)

Ulrich has offered to help “persuade” them, but Jeremie knows that would only be a last resort, as he currently needs their resources (and making them an enemy would just make more problems)

Although he’s a genius when it comes to technology, he has a hard time understanding magic (which powers almost half of all tech)

Mostly because it follows its own set of rules and logic, which he’s never studied before

So Aelita’s knowledge on magic balances this out

Because he’s the youngest and the most vulnerable (Aelita can at least create barriers to protect herself in the beginning, and then she learns to fight later on), everyone is protective of him

But especially Aelita

Aelita will cut a bitch if someone messes with him

Especially as time goes on and he becomes just as targeted/wanted as Aelita, due to his intelligence

Despite this, he’s extremely resourceful, persistent, and resilient – often times he can get himself out of trouble, or at the very least stay calm until someone saves him

Background

She’s never met her parents, and her mother is presumed dead, while her father is MIA

Franz Hopper used to work for the Lyoko Federation before he disappeared one day, with no one knowing why

(Finding this out is one of the big mysteries)

He also used to work for Carthage prior to meeting Anthea and having Aelita, but when he found out Carthage was using elven magic to create and sell weapons, he defected and was targeted by Carthage

He’s been on the run ever since, and joined the Lyoko Federation under the name Franz Hopper

Her and the Lyoko Federation’s goal is to replenish the magic shields in each elven enclave

The shields are accessed via towers, which she opens using the key around her neck, given to her by the Lyoko Federation

Group Dynamics

She is forever grateful to the LWs for protecting her and essentially letting her live a somewhat normal life

She wasn’t upset that the trio hated her at the start, because she thought it was only natural to feel that way; she didn’t hope for anything better

The trio is assigned to protect her in return for her signing a contract with Carthage

It states that after they successfully protect her while she carries out her goal (replenishing the shields), she will give up her power to them

Unbeknownst to Carthage, she has no intention of honoring her end of the contract, and part of her and Jeremie’s dilemma in the beginning is figuring out how they would escape their watchful bodyguards when the time comes

Luckily for them, their bodyguards end up genuinely caring for them, so when Aelita does betray Carthage, and Carthage tries to order the trio to capture her/kill Jeremie, they defect and protect them instead

She will always be grateful to them, but she’s grateful to Jeremie most of all

To her, Jeremie is her hero, her savior

She would’ve never been able to be safe and carry out her goal without him

Before meeting him, she thought of her life as hopeless, that it was only a matter of time before someone nefarious would get her, so she wanted to do as much good as she could before then

But after meeting Jeremie, all her dreams are now possible, and she can actually live her life

She’s also the most comfortable with Jeremie – they both complete each other and are often on the same mental wavelength

She takes it the hardest when they have to travel the world without him

Odd comforts her, Yumi takes care of her, and Ulrich looks out for her – but Jeremie understands her, and she often feels alone without him

So when he does join them at last, she’s over the moon

Odd in particular empathizes with her a lot – from her role as the “weakest” in the group, to the marks on her body she has to hide, to her feeling like she’s the “black sheep”

There are times when her situation dawns on her – she’s in constant considerable danger, and if it weren’t for her, her friends could live safely

But if it weren’t for her, Jeremie would be alone dealing with the criminal org he doesn’t want to inherit, and the trio would still be miserable at Carthage

Abilities

She has an enormous reserve of magic power (near-infinite) but is unable to fully control it

Her lack of control doesn’t cause disasters or anything, but it’s more like, it takes a lot out of her just to use a bit, and she has trouble getting it to do what she wants

Her powers include, but are not limited to: barrier generation, mild terraforming, light manipulation, healing, illusions, telepathy, prophetic dreams, etc

As she starts replenishing the shields and losing some of her magic, she ironically starts gaining much better control

This is when the marks on her face and body start to grow and spread, indicating the increase in her power (despite having less magic)

Along with everything above, she also gains flight and energy manipulation

But most importantly, she gains the ability to create a bow to shoot arrows of pure energy (which is her weapon of choice)

Unlike the show, she doesn’t have much technological knowledge, but she possesses a LOT of knowledge about magic (some of which is intuitive, some is studied), which is half of what powers all tech

She and Jeremie therefore complete the gaps in each other’s knowledge

While they’re traveling away from Jeremie, Aelita is able to telepathically communicate with him (but it requires a lot of focus)

As her power grows and her connection with the others gets stronger, she develops this with the other LWs too

The marks on her face appeared when her powers first manifested; they’ve been there since she was a little girl

Others with elven blood have marks that show they have magic, but they’re usually not on the face – facial markings indicate she’s incredibly powerful

She has more marks on the rest of her body, which she tries to conceal with clothes
