i don't know whose translation this is from but such a funny way to put it
edit: i have been informed this is from 100 great books in haiku by David Bader
Cartonnage Mask of Anubis
This mask depicts the jackal headed god, Anubis. Painted surface, with blue/black and white lines decorating the head-dress. Raised vertical ears, and long nose. Used by priests during mummification rituals.
Fragmentary, but all pieces present. It is the only cartonnage Anubis mask in existence and one of only two Anubis masks existant - the other a ceramic mask is in Hildesheim, Germany. 1585
The mask is likely to be worn by a male priest playing the part of Anubis in a temple during mummification or burial ritual. Probably buried with the priest who had worn it in life.
Late Period, ca. 664-332 BC. Probably excavated in Thebes. Now in the Harrogate Museums and Arts. 10686

Helios is also represented as “holding the reins and steering the tiller, restraining the serpent” (ἡνιοχῶν καὶ κυβερνῶν οἴακα, κατέχων δράκοντα, 993–994). The origins of the idea of the chariot of the Sun are Indo-European. The representation of Helios in his chariot is familiar in Greek literature and in Near Eastern religious texts as well. In the Arsacid period of Iranian religious history, on which there are various Hellenistic and Semitic influences, we find the first artistic representations of the chariot god. The rituals of sun cult were performed, for example, in the Kushan period by the magas, the Iranian Magi who originated in eastern Iran among the Saka. Further evidence of the cult is the statue of the Iranian sun god in a sanctuary in Kabul, and the frescoes in Bamiyan (Afghanistan) depicting the chariot sun god associated with Mithras.

HOLD UP this is the first time I'm seeing eyelashes drawn in Greek vase art ??!!! Look at those glorious lashes on Heracles and Apollo!
The full thing -
Red-figured calyx-krater attributed to Myson (490BC - 460BC) depicting a. the contest of Heracles and Apollo for the tripod b. Acamas and Demophon bringing back Aethra
I thought the lashes might have been a part of the art style but it isn't there on any of the characters drawn on the other side of the crater, only on Heracles and Apollo.
Underneath the colourful stories, there are some more serious messages. Zeus patrolling the world is an implementation of his function as controller of the world order and distributor of a sort of justice, of which we will see more below. The transformations and disguises doubtless each have their own origins, but they have in common that Zeus is an unseen force of incalculable power. Only Semele seeks to see that power as it really is and her mortal frame cannot withstand the thunderbolt that is Zeus. We for our part need to be careful to recognise when that power is at work, in whatever form.

In honour of the release of God Games I have decided to draw the 6 challengers in Athena's way <3 <3. I love them so dearly you have no idea. And man I really have not been making enough EPIC content. I ought to get back to those animatics I've been planning and at least finish a small section of them. That'd be nice. asjdgsajd
A Simple Prayer To Freyja That I Wrote Today:
The sea shines with pride,
And so do I,
Oh Goddess Freyja bold:
You are more beautiful than gold,
And I am blessed to have you near,
I ask my praise you’d hear!
Hail Freyja!

A small note of Etruscan polytheism I find fascinating is the direct connection to the solstices/equinoxes. Tinia for the summer solstice, Nethuns for the Autumnal equinox, Uni perhaps for the winter solstice, and then spg of Voltumna for the spring equinox. Who needs the wheel of the year when you have Rasenna?
Birthday gift great blue heron, watercolor and ink.
