         — -     IT  WASN’T  UNLIKE  ZACK  to  have  a  busy  schedule ,  full  of  errands  and  physical  therapy  and ,  of  course ,  getting  BACK  onto  his  bike  as  soon  as  possible .  a  terrible  idea ,  seeing  as  the  only  reason  he  was  here  and  in  the  situation  (  physically  )  he  was  in ,  was  because  of  destruction  and  pile  of  what  looked like  scrap  metal  his  fingers  brushed  against .  he  could  still  feel  it ,  the  heat  from  the  SPARKS  that  came  on  as  it  crushed  the  pavement .  the  sting  against  his  legs  and  ruining  a  pair  of  his  wardrobe ,  stupid .  then  again ,  zack  had  bouts  of  feeling  reckless  whenever  he  felt  the  revving  of  his  engine  and  the  way  his  boots  felt  as  the  kicked  the  stand .  something  about  the  motion  made  him  feel  like  the  loveable,  but  bad  boy  lead  in  a  movie  ;  could  you  blame  him  ?  with  a  frame  like  his  and  a  smile  that  RIVALED  the  sun  in  terms  of  brightening  the  room ,  zack  WAS  the  main  character .  anyone  with  a  functioning  pair  of  eyes  could  see  that . 

        — -     THE  VOICE  THAT  CALLED  out  his  name  rang  familiar  in  his  head ,  practically  seeing  it  bounce  of  the  walls  and  finding  the  source  gave  him  a  headache .  his  hand  finding  the  soft ,  waving  hairs  against  the  back  of  his  neck ,  tugging  on  them  as  a  way  to  distract  from  the  flashes  of  images  that  hide  deep  inside  mind .  the  man  of  his  dreams   —   the  one  that  was  in  them ,  anyways .     ❛   CLOUD .   ❜    zack  offered  a  smile ,  eyes  shutting  as  his  did ,  animating  the  smile  the  best  he  could .

        ❛    HELLO  TO  YOU ,  TOO  !    ❜

a  part  of  cloud  didn’t  want  it  to  be  true  --  that  all  of  this  was  sick  game  his  brain  made  up.  the  headache  starts  simple,  as  they  always  do,  right  in  the  middle  of  his  brain  and  working  its  way  up  to  his  skull.  staring  straight  on  makes  his  eyes  hurt,  fingers  curled  into  fists.  it’s  suddenly  hard  to  breathe,  hard  to  focus  on  the  figure  ahead  of  him.  never  in  his  life  did  he  figure  he  would  be  here,  facing  the  man  he  watched  die  --  the  person  he  believed  died  because  cloud  couldn’t  protect  him,  or  fight  alongside  him.  as  complicated  as  cloud’s  life  had  been  before  the  memories  of  some  other  life  had  begun  to  invade  his  mind  --  it  has  only  gotten  more  complicated  at  the  sight  of  the  man  in  front  of  him.  the  man  who,  in  cloud’s  eyes,  was  everything  he  had  wanted  to  be  in  another  life,  but  instead  he  was  just  a  stupid  kid  with  high  hopes,  no  real  strengths,  and  a  severe  anxiety  of  being  social.  

much  like  how  he  feels  in  the  passenger  seat  of  anyone  else  driving  a  vehicle,  cloud  feels  nauseous  and  suddenly  dizzy.  half-remembered  instances  play  in  front  of  his  eyes,  things  he  still  can’t  remember  or  recall  without  fuzzy  migraines  invading  the  thoughts.  the  memories  he  didn’t  have,  the  ones  from  his  mako-poisoning  --  months  lost  while  zack  fought  tooth  and  nail  to  get  cloud  to  safety,  to  find  some  solace  for  the  both  of  them.  it  was  a  debt  cloud  would  never  be  able  to  pay  back.  not  in  any  lifetime.  “  you  know  who  i  am ?  ”  his  voice  was  soft,  much  like  the  sound  might  break  the  glass  walls  around  them  --  feeling  like  it  would  be  much  easier  if  zack  had  forgotten  and  cloud  could  pretend  the  aftermath  of  zack’s  death,  “  you  remember ?  ”

it’s  ten  am  and  cloud  feels  like  he  has  much  better  things  to  do.  better  things  as  in  sleeping  rather  than  being  called  in  for  a  very  important  job  (  as  his  father  says  )  and  losing  more  hours  of  sleep  than  he  already  has  thus  far.  lately  sleep  isn’t  something  he  gets,  and  he  talks  about  it  quite  often.  so  the  guilty  look  on  his  father’s  face,  he  feels,  is  revenge  on  its  own.  it  still  earns  a  scowl  given  from  cloud,  because  quite  frankly  he  feels  like  he  earned  it  this  time  --  even  if  he  didn’t  really  need  a  reason  anymore,  it  was  his  natural  state  of  face.  the  scowl  deepens  as  his  father  explains,  this  one  gets  a  discount.  and  why ?  special  case.  cloud  had  rolled  his  eyes,  shoulders  tense,  irritation  high.  the  shop  already  lost  so  much  money  because  of  these  ‘ special  cases ’ .  what  was  it  now?  another  friend  of  his  fathers?  bullshit.  

boots  hit  the  cement  floor  heavy  as  he  leaves  the  office,  full  aware  he  was  about  to  rip  some  guys  ass  off  as  soon  as  he  set  eyes  on  him.  this  was  how  cloud  liked  to  do  it  --  meet  with  the  client  and  get  a  real  feel  for  what  they  want  done  to  their  vehicle,  leaving  no  room  for  mistakes.  cloud  was  the  best  after  all.  except  as  soon  as  he  enters  the  shop  and  takes  notice  of  who  he  was  looking  at,  he  stops  dead.  the  moment  lasts  too  long,  seconds  turning  into  hours,  and  days,  and  months  --  he’s  not  sure  how  long,  it  drags  on  forever.  a  rainy  day,  a  promise  made... his  chest  ached.
