if you are struggling with reading my take on remus’s handwriting, here is the text version:

hi french,

(i am not english by the way, i am from wales)

my name is remus and i’m also fifteen.

sorry for the late response, library next to my house didn’t have a french dictionary. who could have thought translating a letter can be that bloody hard?

anyways, you shouldn’t be thanking me for the conversation we had because i had no clue what you were saying, but your accent is funny and you looked very excited - i didn’t want to stop you

it’s your turn to suffer with translation now - good luck:)

i also tried to write in my most legible handwriting because if you saw my chicken scratch, it would probably take you a year to decipher what’s written here.

one last thing - is “sending kisses” a french expression? i guess sending you kisses from london then.

yk how growing up some teenagers feel somewhat embarrassed to be seen with their parents? sirius is the entire opposite of that, he loves effie, loves going out with her, holding her hand when crossing the road, wrapping an arm around her shoulder, chatting about remus without a second thought, effie treasures every one of those moments, it took him so long to learn to reach out, he had grown so used to never asking for affection, convincing himself he didn't need it, seeing him so carefree makes her heart glow everytime

Sirius hates hates hates asking for help or even appearing to not know something; his ego is too big, he won’t let anyone catch him unknowing. So, obviously, he decides he’s going to stroll muggle London all by himself. He changes his name for the day, walks around the place, meets new people and learns all about the way muggles live and their history. He does it so often, it stopped being for educational purposes and started being for fun. When Remus asked him how he knew everything about muggles Sirius beamed with so much enthusiasm that Remus wished he could burn the image to the back of his retinas.

Sirius was annoyingly intelligent. He used fancy words in his sentences, ones which people usually wouldn’t understand, he would correct people’s grammar while they were speaking or in their writing, and he was filled with so much knowledge, if someone asked him a question about a niche topic, he’d be able to answer it without hesitation.

Everyone hated him for this, but it just made Sirius feel better about himself
