The reason that's so interesting to me is because it's NEVER been down. Not before the vampires, not with Luna, not ever with Moreau was his hair down.

It feels like it's going to be a big character thing if he ever has to have it down. Also I feel the need to clarify that Mochijun hasn't really done the "same hair since they were kids" thing, Domi had long hair as a kid and then cut it and kept it a mix of both, Jeanne had long hair and then cut it some point after Gevadaun.

So to me Vanitas's hair never being shown loose means something especially since hair is commonly associated with memories. It could also definitely be another thing about him as a kid having attempted to be more like his mother, though thats just a guess.

Something that added to this though was that that it seemed like his hair is loose in that glimpse of his death we get at the end of chapter one.

On that note here's a bunch of screenshots I have where you can see his ponytail except for the first one which is what I had just mentioned from chapter one.
