I know many have lost hope that there’ll be a season 3 now that it’s confirmed the next short film is of the confession scene, but the way I see it, it seems like it’s sort of always felt like the donghua team has jumped the gun a little and created their tgcf scenes like it could be their last so they better make the most of it. It’s also always felt more like a gift to the readers rather than for those that only know the story through the donghua, so getting peeks of future scenes early really doesn’t affect most of their viewers at all. To me it feels less like confirmation of doom and more like they’re hopefully just buying time and keeping interest alive until they can release an actual season, while also releasing beloved scenes just in case—like two birds one stone. They’re hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. I want to choose to focus on that first part and be grateful for the second part. I don’t want to see the short films as the donghua’s executioner, but rather as the little miracles that they are. I mean seriously—who thought we’d ever get the confession scene?? Even if the donghua were to miraculously cover all 8 books, it would still take years and years of production before seeing the confession, and we get it now. Isn’t that lovely?
