Just let me finish this row!!!

So the other day I got back in my car which was parked in a lot and went to check my phone for texts before I started driving. Out of the corner of my eye I see an orange sporty type car with a guy sitting in the driver’s seat, obviously waiting for someone to come out of the building. He was maybe 35ish…had like an “I’m a cool dad guy” vibe…you know…has his beloved orange sports car but is driving around on errands and is not a teenager. Anyway, he’s doing something and I look over.

He’s CROCHETING.

So then I’m this wide-eyed, grinning, staring nerd who’s having a crafting moment. I very nearly jumped out of my car and went to tap on his window and start talking about crochet and give him my tumblr and instagram and just tell him how freaking cool it is that he is crocheting. Not that it is “women’s work” AT ALL I know there are many wonderful crafters out there who are not women but it is still very much considered girly and for him to be sitting in his manly car with his manly haircut crocheting something pink and round (he was glancing at a pattern, I could tell he was still learning) and just be enjoying it no matter what any gender expectations there are. So I really wanted to just bang on his car window and shout and gibber excitedly. But I thought if I…you know…did that…well…I had to go to work so getting arrested would have been inconvenient…so instead I just sat there beaming and sending happy craft thoughts his way and coming up with an elaborate craft-fiction (totally a thing I do) about what he’s making and why (IT’S A PINK HAT WITH CAT EARS FOR HIS DAUGHTER WHO WANTS ONE BEFORE IT SNOWS BUT THE MOM IS LIKE NOOOOO WAY HONEY I HAVE NO TALENT AT THAT STUFF AND HE WAS LIKE WELL I WAS ALWAYS GOOD AT HANDIWORK SO I’LL GIVE IT A GO AND NOW HE TAKES IT EVERYWHERE IN ORDER TO HAVE IT DONE AND WHEN HIS LITTLE GIRL SEES IT SHE’S GONNA WEAR IT EVERYDAY AND TELL EVERYONE HER DAD MADE IT AAAAAAHHH SO CUTE)
