(In a world where they survive the whole situation) Since Avery was the intended vessel for Hastur / KIY, I think that being near him when D3r's migraines are really bad helps lesson them bc he (Avery) kinda siphons some of the eldritch god energy out of Derek for a moment. It makes Avery tired and a little spacey like he was in the church garden but thats okay bc they end up just taking a nap together! I imagine they have a bunk bed setup lol
