ooooh this sceeeeene!! loved seeing the two of them just talking and listening and being honestly themselves - it took a lot of drama* to get them to this point but at least for this one scene there's no walls between them. It's rare to get to see two character actually relax around each other - there's always something else going on, be it a scheme or unspoken dynamic/hierarchy etcetc

I love that they take each other seriously - he listens properly and respects her opinions and references, she doesn't treat him like the "scandalous" son but as a person who cares deeply and is to be admired.
It's a great dynamic - I love when we get to see a relationship build over time (romantic or otherwise) as people share experiences and life shapes them along the way. I find that way more interesting than instant "I've known you for 2 days and I'm in love with you completely and I'd die for you" because.......really??
for a relatively serious conversation, it's notable how much of it they spend smiling - he's partly doing that reflexively to cover his hurt but it's not JUST that
I've obviously managed to pick up that these two get together eventually BUT I don't know many details - this whole convo was a great start and bodes well for them, I'm excited for more!!! (.....but I'm also very aware I'm not even 1/3rd of the way through yet so we'll see how it goes...)
fun (?) fact: think a car caught fire or something round the corner from my flat while I was watching this and I didn't notice the sirens/banging sounds/smell of burning because I was too absorbed in this scene
......turns out it wasn't distant fireworks and a bonfire! looks like everyone's ok so I can head back to watching now
