A post on my Facebook feed popped up by a woman saying “moms, please stop bringing your sons into women’s bathrooms.” Now for the record I think it’s fine to bring in little boys (around 5 and under) to the women’s room because obviously they’re too young to A) wait outside or B) go into the men’s alone. Especially if they’re barely potty trained and still need help.

But the responses? Like what?? All these women saying “um I don’t care what you think, I’m bringing him in with me until he’s at least 10.” The “appropriate age” for these mothers to stop bringing their sons in ranged from 8 all the way to 18. No one was even calling out the extreme paranoid helicopter parenting (seriously, millennials have gone to the opposite extreme as the boomers and it’s not good). One mother said she proudly brings her autistic 17 year old son in with her and he’s over 200 pounds and 5’9. She claimed she’ll “fight any bitch that says something.”

I’m sorry but no. A toddler boy is very different to a teenage boy who is probably taller and heavier than many of the women and girls in that bathroom. Also a neurotypical able-bodied boy 7-8 years old is perfectly capable of going to the bathroom by himself.

As for the autistic teenager, I think there needs to be family/disabled restrooms at every public space, don’t get me wrong. I was a child with autism and C-PTSD that I didn’t understand, so there would be many times I’d end up screaming my head off thanks to the many loud and triggering noises (fuck you air dryers) in the regular bathrooms, much to the annoyance of the other people there (and my poor mother was mortified). So I get the mom’s struggle if she has trouble finding a private bathroom for her son. But at the same time, being autistic doesn’t automatically make him safe to be around in a vulnerable space, especially if he’s a fully grown teenager. Autistic men and boys have assaulted and harassed women and girls before.

We’re so worried about keeping our boys safe, but what about our girls? Teenage boys and even younger boys have harassed girls in bathrooms before. Girls need a safe space too. And in the US our stalls have those massive gaps, any one of those boys could look under. I can understand moms wanting their sons to be safe, but do moms of daughters not get that same understanding?

homosexuals don't stop existing just because you erode our language to describe ourselves. whether we are called tribades or lesbians or inverts, we continue to exist as a distinct class of human being.

even if you won, and "lesbian" was redefined to the point of having no meaning at all, at some point, we and those around us would observe that we have a distinct quality that we share in common: that we are females exclusively attracted to other females. and we would name ourselves yet again. we aren't going away. this neo-homophobia is the equivalent of jamming your fingers in your ears and closing your eyes and hoping the homos stop existing as long as you pretend we aren't here.

Wait but I thought dysphoria was a life ruining experience that will absolutely end in suicide if not treated with “life saving gender affirming care”? Is that not true when detransitioners have dysphoria? Their dysphoria isn’t life ruining because it’s inconvenient to your narrative?

And why are we ignoring the fact that elevated testosterone in female people is a health issue? It’s not just no big deal. It’s something that can impact female health. Especially if you’re literally injecting wrong sex hormones into yourself which can lead to increased risk of heart attack and osteoporosis and that’s just scratching the surface.
