Rowan noticed him getting slightly angered, so she figured now was a good time to stop. “I’m just messing with you, mate. I know it wasn’t you.”

When Luca registered her words, he felt his cheeks start to burn slightly, embarrassed about how easy he had been to rope into it. “Just mess with the Hufflepuff, right?”

“Yeah. I’ve just apparently gotten in the habit of becoming clumsy recently. I guess I can blame it on reading while walking.”

“Oh. Yeah, reading -- great. Walking -- great,” Luca said. “Reading and walking -- not so great. Never ends very well.”

“No problem,” he said. “Uh, you alright...?” 

"You’re a terrible liar, Scott."

“I’m not lying,” he said, getting a little frustrated. He sighed, fiddling with his quill. “Look, I -- if it was me I would’ve owned up to it by now. It wasn’t me. Promise.”

"Nope. Helping is done. You’re officially the one at fault here."

"I -- you know what, fine, believe what you want, I s'pose," he said, sighing. "I'm just saying, I was just as surprised to find this as you."

"Too late, Puff. I’m blaming you."

"But I didn't--" He sighed in defeat. "If you want I can... I don't know, help you find out who did it or--"

"What on earth are you doing in here?"

"Am I... not supposed to be in here...?"

"I knew it!" she laughed. "It isn’t that bad I suppose.”

Luca chuckled. "Yes it was," he said. "But I appreciate you lying for my sake."

"Agnes Hopson… No, I’m Pilar Martinez. I don’t know an Agnes Hopson. Is there even an Agnes Hopson at this school?"

"Oh, uh, sorry," he said, scratching the back of his neck. "Professor Flitwick asked me to find her for him. I actually kind of hope I don't find her... he looked pretty angry."

"It was totally you! That kid hasn’t said a word since I’ve been in here."

"Alright, fine, it was me," he said, defeated. "But I didn't mean to say it out loud."

"Hmm? What? Sorry, I wasn’t listening."

"Uh, I was just wondering if your name is, or if you know a, um... Agnes Hopson...?"

"It is, word for word!"

"No it isn't," he said. "In fact, I didn't -- I didn't even say anything. It was... that lad, over there. I can't believe he said that."
