Nothing is âTMIâ for me. Iâm nosy as shit. Tell me everything. Spare no detail.
Meet 63-year-old Lyn Slater, who has, until recently, been an ordinary professor at Fordham University. One day she went to meet a friend for lunch outside the Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week. Foreign journalists suddenly surrounded her, mistaking her for a fashion icon and attracting spectatorsIt was a defining moment that turned Lyn into an âAccidental Iconâ. Her blog of the same name, inspired by the experience, soon began making international waves. She is now a public voice against ageism in the fashion industry and the world.
âFashion and my style help me struggle against that invisibility that comes with age.â
She was once asked about the old notion of âdressing for oneâs age,â and her response was clear:
âWe use language to control peopleâs behavior. This phrase is a way of putting older women in their place. Iâm certain that if you feel comfortable in your own clothes, itâs completely irrelevant how old you are.â
They werenât confused, she is a fashion icon
Youâre right and you should say it
Thatâs going to be meâŚan urbane spinster.
i don know shit yall!!!! im jus out hereÂ
Not even exaggerating here: Art is the greatest human invention. Even when it sucks its still real fuckin neat
I mean, yâall ever sit there and think of art styles? We somehow found a way to convey familiar information but in ways that are unique to each artist!! We managed to turn clusters of lines and colours into things that are treasured and live on longer than the person who put them onto a canvas! Yeah babey!!!!
Lilo and Stitch presenting an accurate representation of Hawaiians perspective on luaus held by tourists.Â
#whatâs sad about this is that this is actually what Hawaiians had to do when the western culture took over #a luau was a sacred practice #until the westerners took the concept and had the audacity to change it into a time to stuff your face with food and put on grass skirts and coconut bras and dance the hula #and when they had these events, they didnât even let actual Hawaiian people in #so to make money to take care of themselves, the Hawaiians were hired to work in these disgraceful events to clean up after the tourists like slaves only to make less than a buck #so good job disney for doing your fucking research and educating these people #sadly, this still goes on even until today and it makes me sick
âgood job disneyâ my ass, good job CHRIS SANDERS
Letâs not credit just Chris Sanders for this. This happened because they cast actual Hawaiian Actors like Tia Carrere and Jason Scott Lee to play Hawaiian characters, and allowed the actors to have input into writing the charactersâ lines.Â
This sort of authenticity comes from accuracy and authenticity in casting choices. The fact that Chris Sanders as direct/writer facilitated that does not mean he gets credit for the actorsâ experience.
This is why diversity and representation in media matters.
Dude as a hawaiian, this is like straight up what my life as a kid was. My mom worked at those fakey luaus full time to pay rent. My mom is someone who is absolutely passionate and proud about being a hawaiian, living and teaching the ways our ancestors lived and taught. See, we Hawaiians, we live by the way of aloha. And not by the way of âhelloâ âgoodbyeâ, let me educate you. As Pono Shim, CEO and President of Enterprise Honolulu, the Oahu Economic Development Board, states absolutely perfectly âaloha is to be in the presence of life, to share the essence of oneâs being with openness, honesty, and humility. It is a way of being, a way of behaving, a way of life. It is a commitment to accepting others and giving dignity to who they are and what they have to offer.â Aloha is more than hello and goodbye. Think of aloha as an abbreviation. Akahai: meaning kindness Lokahi: meaning unity OluâOluâ: meaning agreeableness Haâahaâa: meaning humility Ahonui: meaning patience This is something we all need to live by, seriously, we all should
the dropped sub-plot was that lilo hated tourists, which is why she goes around taking pictures of them like they were attractions instead of people; like how they took photos of locals
similarly there was a deleted scene where she scares tourists off of a beach by sounding a false tsunami siren to watch them run screaming deeper in the lore that kid thats a prick to her, mertyle, is the daughter of the person who runs the megamart and crushed a lot of other local businesses- when they have to do a hula to tell a story mertyle actually uses it to describe the low prices, where lilo does a hula about a traditional creation myth that was important to her mother. you may notice both lilo and nani are on first name basis with both the coffee shop owner and the fruitseller, there is big disparity between the locals and foreign interest businesses relegating them to just be tourist industry
friendly reminder that lilo & stitch is indisputably the best disney film

having a crush on someone you dont have a chance with
Employees should also be asked if their âleadershipâ really did anything worth earning 200x or more than their average pay.
Do you tend to hold grudges? And if so why or why not?
i donât hold grudges because i think itâs a waste of time. there are people that i would rather forget and never talk to again, but not because iâm angry at them for anything, they would just bring up bad memories that i donât want to remember.
these asks are giving me life keep em coming fellas

A playlist featuring Oh Wonder, Lorde, The Jungle Giants, and others
You had argument? Why?
ok so at my school we have a snapchat group chat filled with a lot of the art students who are taking all the same classes. it started out with me and a few other people, but this week we had like 6 people join. iâm gonna type out what happened next because itâs a little hard to just explain it (i would post screenshots but bitch has unfortunately left the chat so all her messages are gone)
B= bitch
M= me
*two people have been added to the chat*
B: wait a minute. hold up. who are these people?
M: theyâre other art students.
B: why do they need to be here? this started out as a close friend group chat (it didnât) and now itâs starting to feel like a party (there are now 8 people in the chat)
M: i thought this was just a general art student group chat?
B: i know iâm just saying before we just start adding whoever we need to make sure everyone is ok with it because some people might have issues
after that the person who added the people apologizes, she ignores it and we move on.....until the next day
*4 more people have been added*
B: for real?
M: theyâre all art students
B: thatâs not the issue
M: then whatâs the issue?
B: before people just add other people, we need to make sure that itâs ok with everyone whoâs already here to make sure that thereâs no issues.
M: if itâs really that big of an issue where you just absolutely cannot stand to be in a stupid snapchat group chat with someone then the person that has an issue can leave. itâd be really annoying if everytime we wanted to add someone we would have to have EVERYONES permission first.
B: ok so who has a problem?
M: right now only you
B: i just think itâs annoying to have people keep joining when i donât even know half of them
M: right now the only annoying thing thatâs happening is you throwing a fit every time someone joins, because you seem to be the only one who really cares that much
B: ok i just think that before we add anyone, we make sure that no one has a problem so that there arenât any issues
(hereâs where i go off because at this point sheâs just repeating her same shitty argument)
M: i donât have any issue with any art student, and iâm sure most of the people here are the same way. if you would like to make a new group chat with all your friends, feel free to do so. i was never under the impression that this was a close friend group chat, just a large general art student group chat where we could ask things about class like when things are due for example. if thereâs someone here that anyone doesnât feel comfortable with then they can leave because nothing is keeping them here but it makes 0 sense to me why if only 1 person has a problem with someone, then they canât join. sorry i snapped a minute ago, i was just frustrated because i thought we handled this last night.
as iâm typing out this long ass paragraph, one of my friends in the group chat sends:
are you typing a book? XD (a tad cringey, i know but harmless)
B: i ainât typing nothing sis đââď¸đ stop using those childish emojis
M: she was talking to me lol
*B has left the chat*
â â â
honestly it wasnât even that big of a deal, it just pissed me off that she was trying to play off her shitty rule like it was for the good of the chat, when i know that she just wanted control over everything. i know she was probably talking shit about to her friends, but i literally donât give a fuck because everyone in that chat who saw what happened was on my side so more than likely thereâs more people talking shit about her lmao.
i rant about this because the situation makes me irrationally angry, and she probably hates me because sheâs petty, but itâs not like i hate her. i donât like her, but iâm an adult and i can be civil. i was worried she would try and start something irl, but weâve been in the same room a few times now and we havenât said anything to each other, so i hope that this will continue.
i just canât get over the fact that she ignored my whole paragraph and apology (when i barely even did anything wrong) and immediately made fun of my friends for âXDâ after she misunderstood what she said, and as soon as i corrected her she left lmaoooooooo
