synopsis! at side b records, she’s just his employee and his just her boss. there isn’t anything more going on between them, nothing at all. side b is run on weird hours, good music, and a chaos that shawn has given up on fixing. between late nights, a music shop and its stubborn owner, the life you’ve settled into moves easy.

¹ you can't score (if your pocket's tight)  ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎another opening shift for you turns into the same thing it always does; your friends loitering, you half paying attention to costumers, and voices louder than the music. he tries to be shocked that you're doing anything but working, but he wouldn't change it even if he could. one too many jokes at your expense, and you have to make it clear that you and him are not secretly in love. no matter what they think.

² feel the magic (don't be afraid)  ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ you question your relationship with him. he's always been a man of few words as long as you've known him. the man who's seen the horrors of war can't quite open up. it's easier to leave it alone, pretend that nothing's changed. except it has. small glance, lingering silence, and every words starts to mean something more.

³ wanna journey (to the center of your heart)  ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ the line between boss and employee were never clear to being with. now it doesn't exist at all. for the first time you've felt out of reach. he notices the distance, how you've pulled away. he can't stomach the thought of you not being near.

Whimsigoth!reader who wears black, purples, blues, and greens on a daily basis. Often cover in celestial patterns. Who's long skirts and long sleeves should feel uncomfortable in the Southern California heat, but doesn't seem to bother you in the slightest.

Andrew who loved that Whimsigoth!reader stuck out from everyone else. Your self-assuredness made him feel a lot less self-conscious.
