You know what really grinds my gears? When I read an article about protecting the ecosystems that tries to convince people about the importance of doing so relying mainly on economical reasons. Really, bitches? Really? More important than saving billions of lives, preventing mass extinction, saving the world, insuring that our kids will have a prosper future (actually, a future at all, for the matter), is the accumulation of currency, an abstract concept! Because, let's face it: money IS abstract. I can buy a paper sheet for 5 cents; people that produce money may buy it for even less, since they must buy lots of it. And each sheet won't be used to make just one bill, obviously. So, because they print some symbols in it, and create, let's say, hundred dollar bills, I woudn't be able to get even one for the price I paid for a whole sheet! And now you're saying that, because people want to get more of these so called valuable items, they are willing to risk everything? Risk their lives, their children's lives, the whole world? That is just stupid. And people who realise the importance of nature just because they saw it associated with a symbol $ and some numbers should be really ashamed of themselves. Nature is much more valuabe than some money! Nature gives us the raw material for money, and much, much more! Do you think you'll be able to buy fresh water when all of it is polluted? Do you think all the money you have in the bank will be able to make food grow on a dead soil? You should forget a little about economy and start thinking about ecology! The reward will be much greater than a few coins, for you and for everyone! Help the world, help yourself, not your pocket!
