“Perhaps they aren’t morning people like myself. But I assure you these baristas are amazing. They’ll be done before there’s a riot.” He said as he positioned himself between the woman and the forming peanut gallery. “Ah! That makes a lot more sense, and sounds very kind of you. If you need any help carrying them to your office I have two arms.”

“I think you’re probably right there.” Lucy agreed, knowing every one in line was just trying to wake up or at least wanting to feel refreshed for the day. “Oh, good! This is my first time at this specific coffee shop, honestly I would’ve understood if they wanted to turn me away.” She chuckled with a small smile. “That would be so helpful. Only if you have time, I don’t want to burden you with my task. But I'd appreciate it greatly.”

“Yeah, of course, I mean—no offense, but, my arms would give out carrying all of that by myself,” Sulley pointed out with a slight shake of his head. “Did you order for a whole team? I hope they give you compensation because I’d be moaning and groaning about carrying everyone’s drinks like that,” He chuckled. “Well, let’s see…” Sulley fished out his coupon and nodded. “Yup. Half off for this cup of joe. My wife’s best friend is all about collecting coupons from here.” 

“No offense taken. Honestly they were throwing orders at me left and right, I doubt they even know how many orders I actually had to write down in total. It feels like it, mostly interns and other fashion journalist. They all need their coffee or nothing gets done it seems.” Lucy laughed, then taking a sigh of relief when she noticed half her order was almost done. “Hey couponing is a great thing, too bad I’m bad at remembering I have them. They’re usually expired before I can eve use them.”

However Lucy had acted at the beginning, Angel had done her best to not take it personally. She wasn’t sure if she would have been to thrilled had she been in her sister’s shoes. After all, Angel had been a stranger and an unruly one at that. There wasn’t any resentment on Angel’s part, but she’d always felt like there was a sort of separation between the two that she wasn’t quite sure how to fix. The blonde smiled at Lucy’s suggestion. “Oh, uh…yeah…we could go together. That would be…uh, yeah…cool.”

Lucy had never been great at problem solving or communication too for that matter. Now she could go and on and on about what fashion trend was in season. Or rant about how unoriginal she thought floral patterns were for spring. Though when it came to expressing her feelings, especially to Angel? She wasn’t sure where to start. “Oh! Good, it’s decided then.” Lucy gave a genuine smile, a little surprised that the blonde accepted. “Maybe we can go all out to eat too, like make a day of it. It’s been so long since we’ve all been together.”

“I’m sure. Ah, they’ll be fine! They just need a laugh…” Turning around, Mike flashed them a grin before speaking to the person right behind him. “Did you know that a plateau is the highest form of flattery?” When they didn’t laugh, he turned back towards Lucy. “I’m out of ideas. They’re miserable.”

“A laugh? You think that’ll work?” Lucy watched with a knit brow as the stranger turned on his heels. “Good luck.” She whispered with a small smile, watching with anticipation. When the joke didn’t land Lucy gave a grimace expression. “Ouch.” She murmured as he turned to face her once again. “Thanks for the try though. Just pray they don’t start a mob behind us.” She commented with a small giggle.

“You really didn’t have to do that but thank you.” Kim smiled at the brunette, “I’m Kim,” she put out her hand incase the other woman wanted to shake it but there was no obligation to do so. “What job has the amount of staff for these coffees?” She was slightly curious but that was in her nature to be so.

“It’s the least I can do.” Lucy flashed a genuine smile, it may have not been a lot but she enjoyed when she could do something for someone else. “Nice to meet you love, I’m Lucy.” Reaching out and shaking the ginger’s hand delicately. “I’m fashion journalist, which means working with a bunch of other fashion journalist who are overtired and uninspired. Coffee usually cheers up everybody's spirit.” Lucy commented with a small giggle.

“Oh, good.” There were times she still felt like an outsider. Despite the fact that the adoption papers had been signed years ago, and she was old enough that it didn’t matter, sometimes Angel still wondered if they ever thought they’d made a mistake. “Maybe I can sneak in when they’re at work or something.”

Lucy always felt bad for how cold she acted towards Angel in the beginning. She had only child syndrome for so long, spoiled rotten and a princess. When her parents decided to bring Angel into the picture it felt like a betrayal at the time. Now that they were older Lucy was able to reflect and realize she had acted selfishly. She didn’t know if it was too late to apologize. “Oh, come on. They’d be so happy to see you. We could go together? If that helps.”

Trixie rocked back and forth on her heels in the line as she scanned the new coffee menu. Lucky for her, the person in front of her had—a pretty large order and Trixie had zero clue what she wanted yet. When the brunette turned to her, the blonde shook her head, “It’s okay, really! I still have no idea what I want yet with the new flavors they got for the iced coffees. I promise, I could wait here!” 

“That’s totally fair, I was a bit indecisive choosing one myself a moment ago. It’s the Libra in me, I suppose.” Lucy joked, hoping she didn’t sound like a complete moron in front of the stranger. Not everyone believed in astrology like she did. “It may be a bit basic but I love a classic french vanilla, with a hint of strawberry.”

Sulley needed himself a pick me up for the afternoon before heading back to work. His eyebrow rose at what the hold up was, but once realizing it was a rather large order, he shook his head at the sight of it. He felt for the woman in front of him. “Oh, hey, don’t worry about it. You sure you don’t need help carrying all of that though?” He asked curiously. “Nahhh, it’s okay, I gotta use up my coupon for today otherwise, I’ll never forgive myself and I’ll get shit from it at work.” 

“Really?” Lucy’s face lit up with a smile. “If it’s not trouble, I’d appreciate the help! I was kind of avoiding figuring out how I was going to get it all back to my office. I guarntee I’d spill most if not all of it.” Lucy chuckled, her eyebrows raising in interest of this mysterious coupon. “Is it a good coupon at least?”

He was running through a routine in his head as he waited meaning that time didn’t matter much to him at the moment. Mike let out a soft laugh at one of his own jokes as Lucy turned to offer to pay for his order. His eyes darted back and forth briefly. How long had he been waiting? He wasn’t sure. “Oh, I mean, it’s not a big deal. I’m just getting a latte.” 

“Oh, as long as you’re sure! I just know there’s a few people behind you that aren’t too happy with me.” She gave a sheepish grin. “Though I suppose I’d feel the same if someone else was hogging the line and our precious life resource.” Lucy joked.

Kim wasn’t paying much attention, just waiting in line to get her usual coffee and pastry when the woman in front turned round to speak to her, “It’s fine,” she waved her off. “Looks like you have a big order to pay for already and the waiting is just going to give me an excuse to get an extra shot in my coffee.”

“You’re telling me.” Lucy mused with lighthearted giggle. “I was only planning on ordering for myself originally. No, no, no! I insist, really it’s no trouble.” Facing the barista she reached into her wallet and handed him and extra ten dollars. “Sorry, but could you add a Latte to my order, with an extra shot please?” Facing the redhead again she smiled brightly. “Your coffee is on its way.”

“Who me? I am currently not doing anything any time soon.” He looks at his non-existent watch. “So take as long as you want. Payment is not necessary I assure you. Perhaps you may answer my question though. Who on earth are all these coffees for? If they are all for you I might have to call a medic.”

“Only if you’re certain, it’s really no problem! I’ve already gotten a couple of dirty looks from the others in line behind you.” She mused, trying not to make eye contact with the strangers behind him. Lucy chuckled with a small shake of her head. “Me? Oh heavens no, they’re for my co-workers. I foolishly decided to go out and get one for myself and I ended up with fifteen other orders.”

Coffee was what would motivate her, or at least she hoped it would.​ However going on a coffee run meant everyone at the office wanted one too. With a large order she knew the customers in line wouldn’t be too happy. Turning to look behind her she offered a sorrowful expression. “I’m so sorry for the wait! I can pay for you order in exchange for the time you had to wait.”
