I caught myself thinking about a plot today because of two songs that have been on repeat on my Spotify. And that would be fine, except I realized just how heartbreaking this plot could be, and how my potential for emotional damage would make me amplify the pain by 500%.

Because nothing says WinterAgent like a story where Bucky had a soulmate before, but during the accident that left him at HYDRA’s mercy, he technically died. So he lost that soulmate, and he believes he’ll never have another chance at that kind of connection.

Except he already has another soulmate in this new phase of his life. He just doesn’t know how to deal with it. Not with all the trauma, the loss, and the idea that his first soulmate was supposed to be the only one he would ever have...

But he’s living his "second" life now, so... (He just doesn’t know it... yet)

On the other hand, we have Walker, convinced that he would never have a soulmate because he had never felt the connection before. He had a marriage, a family, and he was happy, but he was never complete.

And then everything falls apart, because he loses everything, and on top of that, he has to deal with his childhood idol, who very clearly despises him.

And as time goes by, Bucky starts noticing the differences, but also the similarities between Walker and his old soulmate, which makes it impossible for him not to see just how heartbreaking it is that Walker truly believes his soulmate will never appear...
