I don't know if this is canon or not, but for some reason I don't think this is true. I mean, Strade doesn't seem like the type of person who would spoil you, or at least do it very often. Bubble baths are not an argument haha.

So, I think Ren didn't have much, and when he became Fox, he was looking for a lot of money so he could actually get what he wanted and be independent. What do you think?

I agree. Strade wouldn't just buy $300 anime figurines every other day. He's strategic about his gift giving: he does it often enough to elicit some feeling of owing him and placation. It causes such a complex, bad feeling that most people would get caught off guard and ergo are less likely to fight back.

Now, regarding my question, you don't have to post it if it's too raunchy, but I'll die if I don't know your thoughts on this. I'm a cardiophile, which means I'm really drawn to heartbeats and the human heart in general. I really love Ren, and he's somehow connected to hearts, so I've been wondering lately: how do you think he would feel about MC's heart? Like, maybe he likes her heartbeat, and could he enjoy some kind of roleplaying with it? Would he let MC sleep on his chest?🥺 Thhhx

Ren is probably the best character for this. We of course know he likes eating hearts (chicken hearts.. and Strade’s) but I do think because of that he feels sort of drawn to them. They carry a deeper symbolism for him that he might not know consciously, but we as the audience do.

When he mentions eating Strade’s heart in BTD2, Ren becomes almost sentimental, before claiming he deserved it. It was an emotional thing, something he earned— that’s the one thing he took as a reward to himself for surviving, and as a sort of poetic triumph over Strade, who’d taken so much from him. This does make me think Ren feels connected to hearts in a deeper, more complicated way. It’s the core part of a person that keeps them functioning. He’s used to eating hearts, and can very easily eat a human’s, which he proved. Due to this I think he (subconsciously, I don’t think he’s actually sat down and thought this through) feels a sense of control associated with the heart, but that control becomes security when it’s with someone he loves.

In a way, your heart is his, regardless if he ripped it out or if he’s keeping it protected inside your chest. It belongs to him one way or another. The difference is how he feels about you.

I do think for these reasons, if you had a relationship together, he’d feel connected to/comforted by your heartbeat in a way. Hearing it is confirmation that you’re there with him, in his arms, and you aren’t going anywhere.

I mean- I don’t understand it, either. I think I was just born this way.

But, when I’m alone with my own thoughts, it just makes sense. There’s so much to the heart that makes it meaningful to me. As a hopeless romantic, I long for the vulnerability and rawness of another heartbeat.

There’s something so tenacious, yet fragile about the heart. It never stops beating, but it’s safe inside of its cage. It beats harder and faster, but it’s still hidden away from anyone who could notice. Excitement, anxiety, anticipation, fear, arousal… It’s all hidden.

Letting someone feel your heartbeat is so intimate and personal. The heart is probably the most important part of the body, other than the brain. So, of course it would feel nerve wracking to let someone touch it, or listen to it.

What sets the heart apart from the brain is the tangibility of the heart. It can be seen, felt, and heard. To me, the action of listening to a heartbeat is the closest thing someone can get to mind reading. Every thought is translated by a heart that is fast, or slow. Soft, or hard.

Maybe our hearts want to hide for their own safety. They’re just so vulnerable.

Someone can lie, but their heart cannot. The heart can only react. Feeding off of that vulnerability and humiliation by listening to it… Teasing it…
