Dio wasn’t exactly excited being rewarded for coming to “eternity” by losing every memory that he had in whatever previous life he led. He’d rather be floating in whatever black abyss he was located in prior to “the destruction of his universe” or whatever, if it meant he got to remember something. Despite his scouring through books and forcing himself to try and remember something–anything–, he kept hitting a dead end. Eventually, he decided to call it a day, absentmindedly wondering if it was night yet. Red eyes locked with the nearest window, covered in drapes, but the vampire decided against it. Better not risk it.
It was times like these that he yearned for some sort of company. Someone who could keep an eye out on the death ball called the sun and let him know when it was safe to hit the streets. But, alas, he was all alone. Usually, he wouldn’t care, but there was a certain yearning for company that tugged on his heartstrings during times like these. He tried to shrug it off as a fleeting feeling, but recently it was beginning to physically hurt him. This was becoming a problem, and Dio would be damned if he didn’t solve it.
He never believed in “following your heart” or whatever cheesy sayings that humans would spat to try and make their short lives anything worthwhile. But even Dio found this beneficial for him, as this sort of magnetic attraction seemed to tug him to who-knows-where. At least lady luck was smiling on him, and the clouds covered his mortal enemy, and they seemed to be settled in for a while. Hopefully long enough for him to solve this stupid annoyance.
Still, he didn’t expect to find some grey-fleshed creature at the end of his journey. Whatever was bothering him was completely gone. Strange. Still, this would be quite strange if he outright explained this idiotic phenomenon, and simply went with a casual greeting.
“Hello there, what brings you out here?”
With the sun hidden from view, Darkleer felt at ease -- or, at least, more at ease than he’d felt before, which, frankly, wasn’t too high of a hurdle to clear. The troll was disquieted by all this, but even so, not feeling the horrid light beating down on his gray skin made him feel like he could breathe a little bit easier. For now, he was on a mission, which distracted him from all the small annoyances and terrors of this world, which was just so oppressive in every way.
Ah, and just as luck would have it, he was met with a face -- the face he’d been looking for. Funny. While Darkleer was walking, this seemed like it would be so expedited, so simple. He’d approach, communicate, and settle in. But...just hearing this man’s (human?) voice sent a cold shiver down the massive being’s spine, and the troll found himself gritting his teeth, perspiration forming on his brow.
-+-> Di0...Brand0, isn’t it -+-> 1 have been h0ping t0 meet with y0u -+-> 1 had...n0t expected y0u t0 be human
Pulling a small card from a pocket in his rather large cargo pants, Darkleer squinted at the name written on it, then looked back at the man. Yes, this had to be him. Offering an inclination of his head as greeting, the troll continued.
-+-> 1 am...the E%ecut0r, Dark1eer -+-> We seem t0 have been...paired f0r this endeav0r
Wait, why did his voice shake just there? Exactly what did he think getting paired entailed?!
