Do you like fishing?

[ ⚔ ] — “Ah, alright.” He nods in understanding, stopping his work to approach the customer. Jake didn’t want to get in the way of his shopping, but since the guy seemed to need some assistance, he might as well give his input. Plus. He was sort of curious about the guy, what with him being a non-human and all. 

After sparing the taller man a brief glance, Jake begins to look over the daggers. Seeing as how he’s forged most of them, it doesn’t take much of a look for a suggestion to form in his mind.

“I suggest the Thief Knife. They might not pack as much of a punch as some of the other choices here, but they’re light and easy to carry, and allow for good mobility. Definitely a good starter choice.”

Dylas nodded at his suggestion, thinking on it a bit. “I think I might go with that, then. I’m not entirely sure what I’m doing,” he admitted, looking toward the Thief Knife. It certainly looked nice, and he would probably be able to use it with relative ease. Hm.

“How much is it?” he finally asked, tearing his gaze away from the dagger to look at the other non-human.

Pia looked at the distance between the water and the dock. It was far too much to jump and a tail wasn’t the best thing for climbing, but that was the beauty of magic. None of that mattered. She looked at her own tail and pointing at the water surrounding her, she twirled a finger and flicked it up. Following the motion, the water swirled around her and lifted her onto the pier. Easy peasy.

“Hello!”

She greeted again, giggling. This was a more comfortable distance for the two to work on getting the hook out of her tail. The hook that now reflected the glare from the sun.

Dylas was taken aback by the sudden use of magic, and even more shocked to see that she was, in fact, a mermaid. He gawked for a moment, but soon shook his head to snap out of it. He had to help her get that hook out, after all. The blue-haired man headed over to her and knelt beside her, inspecting the wound.

“I can get it out, but please don’t squirm. I don’t want it to hurt you any more,” he quietly explained.

Kuruna knew she hadn’t been imagining things. Every now and then, she swore she could feel another strong magical presence inside the hotel, but she couldn’t tell where it was coming from - or from whom, to be more exact.

Looking up from where she was seated, in a comfy arm chair, book open in her lap, her eyes flicked over to the closed door. That presence was definitely nearby again. 

Seeing as how Celia wasn’t in the room at the moment, she didn’t have the luxury of asking someone to accompany her, and instead decided she would have to investigate on her own. She slid her book mark in place and set aside her book before dashing out the door of her room, where she stood for a moment, scanning the hallway before following her instincts and heading out toward the lobby.

Normally she didn’t approach strangers, but it seemed she was becoming more bold as of late, and this was no exception. If there were others like her on the premises, she had to know who they were - and what had brought them here. 

Heading toward the source, she found herself stopping in her tracks when she noticed the tail. The ears. There was something strangely familiar about them and she faltered for a moment before she finally opened her mouth to speak:

Still, sometimes he couldn’t help but swear he caught glances of a tail or a pair of ears on one of his neighbors. He could never confirm it though, since he kept to himself. As he headed out, he couldn’t help but think back on it.

It was a shame he’d never meet someone like that.

That was, until he was called down by someone else in the lobby.

He turned around to see who called him, and was surprised to see someone much like him facing him. His jaw hung open for a moment before he straightened himself up. He had to leave a good impression, after all. He would just have to play it cool for now.

[ ⚔ ] — Of all his jobs, work at the blacksmith’s was Jake’s favorite. It was the one he’s been doing the longest, and where he felt most comfortable. Ever since being promoted to boss, he hadn’t been able to work in the forge as much as he would have liked, but he loved the work all the same.

After putting a few weapons away in storage, Jake walks out from the back and notices a customer standing by the daggers and dual blades on display, looking a little lost. And if it weren’t for what Jake saw on said customer, he probably would have treated the guy the same as all the rest.

Non-human ears (a… horse, maybe?), and a tail. Just that alone was enough to warm Jake to the idea of this person, glad to see that there were more non-humans hanging around Leuda than he initially realized.

“Sup. You need some help there?” He calls out to the other guy.

Dylas was relieved to see someone here to help, and he nodded. “Oh, uh, yeah! I’m looking to pick out a weapon for myself,” he explained. “I’m just deciding between some of the daggers here.” He pointed back to them with his thumb, tail swishing a bit.

This was when Dylas noticed that this individual also wasn’t human, and he blinked in surprise. It was pretty exciting to meet another non-human to be honest, especially since he didn’t know too many. He appeared to be an elf--or at least he assumed so.

At the mention of calling it day he wasn’t surprised. They both took a dip in the ocean, and the ocean was by no means warm. It was then he noticed that the other male had a tail. It didn’t bother him at all, considering he wasn’t exactly human either. He felt more at ease in their presence, however it would be understandable if the other felt insecure about it.

With that he grabbed the oars and began rowing. “Where to?” Probably the most strange thing he’s done, considering he neglected his own boat. Oh well, he could say it got wrecked or something.

“Well, it’d be nice if we could head back to the closest port first. I can find my way home from there,” he replied, ringing out his tail again. Gods, it was soaked to the bone. “If that’s fine with you. I don’t care, honestly,” he admits. He just wanted to get home and get dry. Not that he hated swimming, no; he hated being dunked into water in his day clothes.

“Come on in! The water’s fine!”

She chuckled. It was the better option for herself and her secret. What if someone walked by while he was helping her? That would cause more harm than good and she wasn’t the type of person who was able to handle those situations very well. It was the main reason her friends typically worried about her constantly. 

“W-wait! I’ll go up!”

What if he couldn’t swim? What if he only offered to be nice and then it turns out that she’d have to save him? Of course she wouldn’t mind, but that wouldn’t help her own problems. Pia would much rather put herself in danger than a new friend! It was something people told her to stop doing since it got her into a lot of trouble in the past, but she couldn’t help it. People wouldn’t want to be her friends if she only looked out for herself! And friends were important.

“Alright, sure.”

He was about to head in when she stopped him quickly. Did she not think he could swim or something? This was hardly the time to be worrying about if a fisherman like him could swim or not. (Which he could.) He could be wrong, though. Maybe she just changed her mind.

It was a bit nerve wrecking to have him stare at the line like that. What if she made a mistake somewhere? It looked okay enough, but what if it wasn’t good enough? 

However, he had praised her! She did a good job, and he was smiling. That means that she did okay– especially since whenever Frey had seen him around he had always looked so serious. Frey returned his smile with one of her own, with stars practically in her eyes.

“Ah! Thank you so much! I’m ready to move on, yes!” With newfound enthusiasm, she looked over at Dylas in expectation. 

Dylas nodded and gave her back her rod. “Just try and copy me, okay?” He tipped the end of the line back behind him before he swung it toward the water. He glanced at her once before reeling it back in.

“Does that make sense? This is pretty easy, you just gotta watch for stuff behind you that it can tangle in. Like...” He glanced behind them. “Like trees or wires, but this is pretty clear. You should be fine.” He tossed his line back into the water after explaining.
