My writer brain: No

Me: Then what am I supposed to write?

- He’s only half Mexican, the rest of him is white but he prefers to say he’s Mexican because it makes him feel closer to his mother. Also he just doesn’t want to be called white lol

- When Neil married his mother he had no idea she wasn’t white, he only learned this after they had already gotten married and had Billy. It was one of the reasons for his abuse towards them.

- He’s very light skinned but if he’s in the sun for enough time his skin can gain some melanin

- In California everybody knew he was Mexican because of the fact that he got so much sun so he looked more dark skin but because of the fact that there isn’t much sun in Hawkins he’s gotten paler

- He’s fluent in Spanish, in fact he probably knows it better than English.

- he’s the whole reason Max knows any Spanish, he’ll have conversations with her in it when he doesn’t want anybody to know what she’s talking about. Sometimes he corrects her if she gets any words wrong.

- Neil knows some Spanish, like enough to know whether or not Billy is cursing at him under his breath or just talking to himself

- Dia de los Muertos is in fact celebrated every years despite the fact that Billy ( and sometimes Max ( and even less sometimes Susan)) is the only one who celebrates it

- Las Posadas is also celebrated because I also headcanon that he heavily believes in god

- He makes jokes about mowing peoples lawns because he’s chaotic like that

- gets all the problems that come with being bilingual I.e. not knowing certain words, getting languages messed up, pronouncing things wrong when reading out loud
