minor wings of fire book 16/The Hybrid Prince spoilers
these guys are like the same in my head
i need to reread book 16 so i can try to explain this bc i think i read it too fast out of excitement but like Taipan is grouped with Thanos & Royal is grouped with Nam-gyu in my brain
theyre also my voice claims for taipan & royal if anyone gives a gaf
i tried so hard to come up with a clever or interesting nightwing name for simon but it feels so goofy when his actual name is just. a real name. idk, a two word one with butcher? abysswalker? like something about the navigation aspect? listener goes hard since its the actual meaning of simon, but like i said in the notes, already a canon dragon. butcher is technically valid but i feel like the 1 word names are always positive or at least nonviolent... if anyone has thoughts i want them
also, couldnt fit it in my notes but. huge fan of the irony of simon being the tribe that has star patterns under their wings LMAO… i chose nightwing because of the limited resources and hell world, but thats so perfect
everything about grace being a rainwing was easy and perfect. no notes
i hate what wof did with scavengers in arc 3 HOWEVER… rocky is 100% a scavenger in this au. also hilariously ironic
bonus jerma rainwing from 2 years ago (WTF almost EXACTLY 2 years ago) because WOW how did i get that to look so much like him. i tried doing that with simon and grace but it was wayyyy harder this time??? maybe i’ve just looked at jerma longer. or i picked bad refs lol i really did just grab the first ones i could find this time

some design stuff below if you’re interested …
Astarion/Bat
- RainWing scales, when they haven’t been in the sun, become dull. So a vampire RainWing is pretty tragic and all things considered I thought that would work very well for him. I am truthfully not very set on his name being Bat but I have not thought of anything else fitting for him
Gale/Tempest
- Name idea came from his combat dialogue “a rough tempest I will raise”. I cannot see him being anything other than a SeaWing. I was told a long time ago that he should be a NightWing because of the astral plane thing??? I think that’s dumb he does all of that bc of Mystra. Mystra is a NightWing in this au but Gale is NOT! you could argue that like 5 of the 10 companions should be NightWings & i tried to steer away from that i hope i can get the other designs done & talk abt this more… also Tara is a scavenger in this au
Raphael/Sulfur
- Not too much to say about his design, I tried to make his horns like his demon form. He has gold-tipped claws because that seems like something he would have. I hate that guy
The Emperor/Guardian
- Ooh i love this design so much. I was just doing some bs with some free space brushes in pink and purple and cyan and dark blue and i cooked something. I dont see a reason giving a new name to the Emperor, or the guardian since they aren’t named anything except that
