Do you have any tips about making comics
yesh =)
so first off, this is how i write my scripts \/
pages separated by numbers and hyphen spam, and panels separated by new lines, with notes about how big each panel is gonna be. determining what pieces of dialogue are going to go on which panels + how to split it all up, however, are skills that i think mainly come from experience
from there, i do thumbnails with rough sketches to see if the vision i have in mind will actually work on the page.
you should position the characters in a way that leaves enough room on the page for their speech bubbles. this is something i had a lot of difficulty with when i started making comcis
for the actual pages, i first blow the thumbnails up to the canvas size, and then lay out the text. i try to make each line of text have a similar size, with the middlemost lines having more text then the ones toward the top and bottom.
laying out the text first also helps determine if any adjustments need to be made to the thumbnail sketches in order to make room for the speech bubbles. getting this step out of the way ahead of time means you aren't stuck having to edit the drawing once it's inked and colored and rendered.
once you have all the setup out of the way, it's just a matter of inking and coloring and whatever else you need to do to make it look good. and yeah, it can seem daunting, the idea that each panel is its own picture and you have to draw dozens of these from scratch in order to make a comic. comics do take a lot of work. but there are things you can do to make the process easier.
dont be afraid to cheat off of yourself! reuse the same character drawings if they work for multiple panels. god knows i do, especially for wpnz. here's some of the pages from my last comic overlaying each other
also, not every panel needs to have a background! i've noticed that for many webcomics i read, whenever there's a close-up of a character reacting to something, the background tends to be a solid color or a pattern of some kind that has no correlation to wherever they are.
then whatever they're reacting to comes back into frame, and so does the background. for example:
also be sure to take your time, because the process is going to take a lot of it
and have fun too. pretty pls
hes ok just give him a secomd
been playing rogue core. very fun

scriptwriting’s going great

im glad people enjoyed the gunshow comic :) i had a lot of fun putting it together
full disclosure, i only got interested in smg4 when wpnz was introduced, and i only watched the episodes with him + puzzles and some of the puzzlevision stuff lol
its a very strange show with… interesting editing choices??? that i can’t really feel nostalgia for since it’s not something i grew up with
that notwithstanding, i did greatly enjoy watching the scenes with puzzles and wpnz. those 2 idiots are adorable together
i am very much looking forward to the zamination puzzles spinoff and i hope mr gun shows up in it
