I was just talking about this with my editor!

When I read for knowledge, I practice a skim and return method. I try to skim the entire text as fast as possible, making note of anything that catches my eye. Once I'm done skimming, I return to the text, and hone in on the specific facts I need from that specific text.

For example, I recently read Keichefer's Magic in the Middle Ages. I skimmed the entire thing, and learned that roughly 1/3rd of the text was discussions of Norse and Celtic magical practices, and how we don't really know much about them. I did not need to read that closely. I was interested in the evolution of the European Grimoire Tradition.

something about gansey becoming anything but lonely in his second life, becoming part of a two headed and then three headed and then eventually six headed monster. moving through the world with a company of men. something about his second death being anything but lonely, surrounded by his company. sacrificing himself for his company, giving himself over to death. something about his third life being allotted not because of karmic balancing, not because of death and violence, but because of deep love and devotion from his company, his gang of merry men.

Okay here's some character designs for my YEARS old trc pirate/sort of steampunk au

Gansey--captain of an old tallship named the camaro, asked adam to add mechanical parts to it over the years to make it partially steampowered. I did his design and he wasn't ugly enough so i gave him those pants pocket things. I think his journal (in relation to whelk) in this au is a treasure map

Blue--stowaway on the camaro. In this au she wasn't cursed her whole life but instead when neeve told blue she would kill someone she ran away. I think instead of being half tree she's half mermaid

Ronan--he's just ronan man. He has that sword from the dreamer trilogy. First mate

Adam--ship's mechanic. this au used to be way more steampunk lol so noah is a robot/cyborg thing that adam like maintains lol but that might change. Adam lives a short boat-ride away from aglionby so at night he stays on the camaro
