Typing away on his computer, Zenigata frowned as he scanned the screen. He was sitting with Lupin while the thief slept, the others working downstairs on dinner. He was still trying to find his place in the group, which was still pretty difficult all things considered. Somehow, Lupin was still the easiest to get on with, not that that was any surprise. It just seemed easier to split off like this than force conversations.

Running his hands down his face, Zenigata sighed. He was compiling all the information he could on the syndicate, managing to hack several databases and secret communication networks. He had had to stop more than once, sometimes due to the flood of information and sometimes due to how disturbing things got. He had pictures he never wanted to see again, things he never even seen in all his years on the force.

Opening his eyes, Goemon felt substantially different than he had earlier. His eyes still vaguely stung and his head was throbbing more pointedly than before despite the rest of his body feeling oddly numb and fuzzy. A glance at the alarm clock on the bedside table told him several hours had passed and it was now dusk. Lupin and Jigen had most likely left him some time ago. Whatever. He didn’t need to lay around like this for the rest of the night.

Staring out the window, Goemon was happy that the snow had finally come to a stop. He felt so guilty, subjecting the people in the area to the product of his emotional instability that he would’ve normally never had an issue with. Despite this, he could hear children outside enjoying themselves in it, their laughter and squeals traveling through the walls faintly enough for him to hear.

Don’t you see how this benefits people?

Goemon narrowed his eyes, resting his head on the kotatsu again silently. Damn.
