I have my first exam of the semester this week. So a lot of my week has looked like this- working on my drug chart, drinking coffee, trying to have good vibes and force myself to stay motivated. Last week was really rough. But I upped my dose of meds and started trying to be more intentional with my time. And more disciplined. And kind to myself.
Hoping my own depression makes the exam on depression a little easier! fingers crossed for good grades and doing my best.
I want to start documenting more of my life here. Maybe its the depression, but I often feel like I canât remember things that I want to. Like my brain is an airplane with engines failing, sinking in the sky. And so the minute thoughts become dead weight, things like the plot of a book Iâve finished, or the title of a movie i watched, or dates I went on 5 years ago, my brain chucks them out the back.
This is the first book I read in 2021. Landline by Rainbow Rowell. I loved it. A book about keeping love afloat, about doubt in relationships. The opposite of a fairytale. I saw a post on twitter about how staying in love is the part of love that requires effort and time, and almost no art gets made about it. Itâs always falling in and out of love. But what about this in between? This book captured that perfectly. It has little bits of humor, LGBTQ, science fiction, and 90s nostalgia. I loved Eleanor and Park, and so when I saw this book in a used bookstore, I knew that it would be a good one. It did not disappoint.
One of my favorite lines: âNeal didnât take Georgieâs breath away. Maybe the opposite. But that was okay - that was really good, actually, to be near someone who filled your lungs with air.â
being in your early twenties is like [grocery shopping alone] [having instant noodles for dinner] [remembering random details about that one friend you haven't spoken to in five years] [feeling overwhelming guilt for every purchase that isn't strictly "necessary"] [having midday naps] [finding out through facebook that the girl who was mean to you in high school has a husband and a baby] [falling a little in love with every stranger on public transport] [pretending you're not afraid of being alone] [wondering when you'll feel like a fully realized person] [listening to bands you liked in middle school] [blinking and it's suddenly december] [failing to imagine yourself ten years from now] [feeling like you're running out of time]

30/9/2020 | 17/100 Days of Productivity
We got drunk on a Tuesday night and I have regrets, 21 is too old for this shit
21 Tips to Become the Most Productive Person You Know
I wanted to help you create explosive productivity so you get big things done (and make your life matter). Here are 21 tips to get you to your best productivity.
#1. Check email in the afternoon so you protect the peak energy hours of your mornings for your best work.Â
#2. Stop waiting for perfect conditions to launch a great project. Immediate action fuels a positive feedback loop that drives even more action.Â
#3. Remember that big, brave goals release energy. So set them clearly and then revisit them every morning for 5 minutes.Â
#4. Mess creates stress (I learned this from tennis icon Andre Agassi who said he wouldnât let anyone touch his tennis bag because if it got disorganized, heâd get distracted). So clean out the clutter in your office to get more done.Â
#5. Sell your TV. Youâre just watching other people get successful versus doing the things that will get you to your dreams.Â
#6. Say goodbye to the energy vampires in your life (the negative souls who steal your enthusiasm).Â
#7. Run routines. When I studied the creative lives of massively productive people like Stephen King, John Grisham and Thomas Edison, I discovered they follow strict daily routines. (i.e., when they would get up, when they would start work, when they would exercise and when they would relax). Peak productivityâs not about luck. Itâs about devotion.Â
#8. Get up at 5 am. Win the battle of the bed. Put mind over mattress. This habit alone will strengthen your willpower so it serves you more dutifully in the key areas of your life.Â
#9. Donât do so many meetings. (Iâve trained the employees of our FORTUNE 500 clients on exactly how to do this â including having the few meetings they now do standing up â and itâs created breakthrough results for them).Â
#10. Donât say yes to every request. Most of us have a deep need to be liked. That translates into us saying yes to everything â which is the end of your elite productivity.Â
#11. Outsource everything you canât be BIW (Best in the World) at. Focus only on activities within what I call âYour Picasso Zoneâ.Â
#12. Stop multi-tasking. New research confirms that all the distractions invading our lives are rewiring the way our brains work (and drop our IQ by 5 points!). Be one of the rare-air few who develops the mental and physical discipline to have a mono-maniacal focus on one thing for many hours. (Itâs all about practice).Â
#13. Get fit like Madonna. Getting to your absolute best physical condition will create explosive energy, renew your focus and multiply your creativity.Â
#14. Workout 2X a day. This is just one of the little-known productivity tactics that Iâll walk you through in my new online training program YOUR PRODUCTIVITY UNLEASHED (details at the end of this post) but hereâs the key: exercise is one of the greatest productivity tools in the world. So do 20 minutes first thing in the morning and then another workout around 6 or 7 pm to set you up for wow in the evening.Â
#15. Drink more water. When youâre dehydrated, youâll have far less energy. And get less done.Â
#16. Work in 90 minute blocks with 10 minute intervals to recover and refuel (another game-changing move I personally use to do my best work).
#17. Write a Stop Doing List. Every productive person obsessively sets To Do Lists. But those who play at world-class also record what they commit to stop doing. Steve Jobs said that what made Apple Apple was not so much what they chose to build but all the projects they chose to ignore. #18. Use your commute time. If youâre commuting 30 minutes each way every day â get this: at the end of a year, youâve spent 6 weeks of 8 hour days in your car. I encourage you to use that time to listen to fantastic books on audio + excellent podcasts and valuable learning programs. Remember, the fastest way to double your income is to triple your rate of learning.Â
#19. Be a contrarian. Why buy your groceries at the time the store is busiest? Why go to movies on the most popular nights? Why hit the gym when the gymâs completely full? Do things at off-peak hours and youâll save so many of them.Â
#20. Get things right the first time. Most people are wildly distracted these days. And so they make mistakes. To unleash your productivity, become one of the special performers who have the mindset of doing what it takes to get it flawless first. This saves you days of having to fix problems.Â
#21. Get lost. Donât be so available to everyone. I often spend hours at a time in the cafeteria of a university close to our headquarters. I turn off my devices and think, create, plan and write. Zero interruptions. Pure focus. Massive results. I truly hope these 21 productivity tips have been valuable to you. And that Iâve been of service. Your productivity is your life made visible. Please protect it. Stay productive.

Iâve been trying to take in being back in the city and starting new (mostly online) classes. My second year of pharmacy school is in full swing! Iâve been having a hard time adjusting, and I sort of feel a mixture of imposter syndrome and uneasiness about it. But!!! Here I am!! Trying to keep my head above the water and just putting one foot in front of they other.

Deadlines met. Positive energy. Goodnight sleeps. Mental health together. Making connections. Coffee because you want it, not because you need it. Studying but not over studying. Good grades. Easy sailing. Building healthy relationships. Staying on top of things. Falling but getting back on track. Never giving up. Keeping your head up.
One real benefit of reading I rarely hear anybody mention is how much more interesting life becomes when you read a lot. It depends what youâre reading, of course, but most (good) books will teach you something you didnât already know, and even if you have to give the book back to the library, you get to take that much with you. A lot of people talk about things they wish theyâd studied in schoolâIâve done it, tooâbut itâs a nice consolation prize that you can always pick up a book and learn something new. And as that library in your brain collects more volumes, everything around you gains new resonances, new context, and new connections which make your lived experience richer. In quarantine alone Iâve read about religion and politics and history and evolution and computer science and astrophysics without even leaving my house and itâs already a more interesting world.Â
The version of you right now is deserving of love. Not you two years ago when you had more of your shit together, or the five years later version where youâll surely be thriving. The version of you right now. The one that might just be okay, or is really struggling, or is bored and unproductive. That version deserves love. Having trouble accepting this is fine, but actively denying it is not. Your value is intrinsic, and finding confidence in that is mandatory.
This week I have my first ever mental health appointment with a psychiatrist. Any tips? Iâm so scared. Do I need to have anything prepared? What sort of thing should be I prepared to talk about?

You forgot constantly feeling like a failure to your parents and always being the one who gets left out or left behind.
Unarmed Black Man With Hands Up Shot By Police.
Charles Kinsey, 47, a behavior therapist from South Florida was shot in the leg three times by the police in North Miami while laying on the ground with his arms up and trying to help his patient with autism who had run away from a group home.
It all started when someone called 911 and said there was a man walking around with a gun. However it was Kinseyâs patient who was sitting on the ground cross-legged, playing with a toy truck.
Charles got shot by police despite telling them he was only trying to help his patient.
The police shot him, handcuffed him and left him on ground bleeding.
North Miami police have not released much information at all. They havenât released the officerâs name, they havenât given us an update on the investigation. However, they did say that the state attorney is now a part of this investigation.
