IF I'M SO FUCKED UP WHY YOU LOOKIN?

girl i just sat down n started that shit! i was at my old friend's apartment playing a guitar that wasnt even mine so youre already ahead of the game. i started with a list of basic chords (G, C, Cadd9, D, Em) and started learning songs once i vaguely knew what those chords should feel and sound like. you can probably skip that part but i found it helpful. as far as a step by step guide i can give you this:

step 1: relax, chill, do it on a whim. don't make a whole big thing out of it because you'll stress yourself out and not have any fun. and fun is the point! i was really nervous to start so i would always smoke a cigarette beforehand step 2: tune that thang! i used youtube to learn how to do it and i have this tuner that i like. it's rechargeable so you don't have to buy batteries and it's simple so you don't have to know much step 3: learn a G chord and play it really loud a bunch of times until it sounds good. it will probably sound wonky at first. i highly recommend getting used to sounding wonky loud as fuck so that it doesn't feel as scary or embarrassing step 4: learn a song via youtube. i like stuart alexander lehman-brown, but find what works for you. i like him specifically because a lot of youtube guitarists like to throw music words at you as fast as they can and it can be overwhelming and not fun. stuart teaches like you don't know anything at all and he has a LOT of helpful videos that never make me feel like a dumb idiot
