Letâs lighten up đ

Here I am with my very first post. Actually, I have been around for a while but I havenât had the courage to write & share. Hopefully, from now on I will. As a person who studied English Lit. I will follow the path of Virginia Woolf and write in stream of consciousness, therefore, the result might be quite different from what I intend at the very beginning as it is at this time. Anyways, this is to discipline my mind, maybe my days and to feel more comfortable while communicating.Â
I listen to this song for some time and I listen to it every time I take a long walk around London. I came across it in a private playlist on Spotify called âOnce upon a time in Londonâ which, I thought, perfectly suits me. This is basically how it works for me to listen to a song:
While listening to a playlist over and over again, a song distinguishes itself from other tracks and I stick with that song for a while but I only hear the base, the music I definitely do not hear lyrics, funny but sometimes I canât even find which song I am listening by its name among the list. Then comes the lyric and I start to listen consciously and combine the music with lyrics as a body. If powerful enough I move on to other songs of the artist or fully ignore the rest.Â
As for this song, I just started to hear lyrics but recently when I was in the tube and listening offline when there was not much to do I realized the artist and the album cover which hit me in a way, tried to remind me something powerful but then I couldnât figure it out. Long afterwards, I saw that Benjamin holding/hiding an apple in his hand and there & then it crossed my mind with what I am associating the song, one of the paintings of one of my fav artists: The Son of Man, Rene Magritte.Â
With his long coat, face in shadows, apple in hand and red detail referring to the tie in the painting, he couldnât be anyone else but him.Â
It seems, with an instant wave of rage Benjamin picked the apple & got rid of the hat but still hiding his face, a bit offended for having his face hidden behind an apple for so long but still holding the apple, hesitant, not sure of coming into light, maybe with an effort of avoiding any possible disillusionment, yet he stays still out of fear & excitement, perplexed by his own actions. Is it too late to go back? Does he even want to go back? He is like the man out of the cave for the first time, the sun is too bright even hurting. Will he?Â
The dreams from Laputa.
