Chat Noir watched the transformation unfold, a sight he himself experienced, but for some reason, watching Marinette do it felt foreign but familiar all the same.
It almost looked natural on her, the movements and the pose, as if she’d done this a hundred times.
The immediate seriousness that took over made him believe she had, “Quick, we have no time to lose! The akuma must be on top of the Eiffel Tower! Let’s go kitty!” Marinette’s suprisingly authorative tone froze him on the spot and he couldn’t shake off the feeling of dejavu.
But instead of a red suit with cute black dots, it was a grey one mixed with a little pink. And a cute little mouse nose.
Meanwhile, Marinette had been waving a hand in front of her partner for the past seconds, “Chat Noir? Helloo, earth to Chat Noir. Are you there?” she blinked, forgetting for a moment that she was Marinette, or more accurately, Mulmouse, and not Ladybug.
“Chaton!” Chat Noir seemed to snap out of his daze, green eyes blinking at her in question, “We can daydream after we catch the akuma, now come on!”
Marinette was already sprinting forward when a sudden force from her midsection pulled her back, stopping her dead in her tracks and nearly causing her to crash into Chat Noir, “Ow! What-?” Marinette’s eyes flew open.
Chat Noir had her tail, or what acted as her tail, in his hand. It reminded her of all the times she had tugged on his belt to stop him from charging into battle. The slight throbbing in her hips suggested the action was none too gentle, she would need to think of other ways to slow him down other than tail-pulling.
She didn’t know what the odd crawling sensation rushing along her spine meant, but she didn’t neccessarily like the look on Chat Noir’s face, “Uh….Chat…Noir?” he walked right in front of her, looking down at her with a smirk.
He swung the end of her tail in the air casually, “You know, you should follow my lead since I’m the more expurrienced superhero,”
Marinette’s face flushed red in embarrassment. That’s right, she wasn’t Ladybug, she was Marinette who had transformed for the first time ever into a superhero! She should have been shocked and surprised and nervous.
She cursed her Ladybug instincts.
Chat Noir was still smirking, “W-what?”
His grin widened, “What do you say, Mulmousse, up for a game of cat and mouse?” the dark glint in his eyes sent her alarm bells ringing.
Now he was making jokes?! There was an akuma on the loose!
“Chat Noir, I really don’t think we-” his clawed finger was suddenly gently pressed to her lips.
His next words caused her to squeak, “This time, the mouse will follow the cat around today but don’t forget,” he leaned in closer, almost so his mouth was close to her ear, “I’ll have my eyes on you, little mouse,”
Marinette squeaked like a mouse.
