Seriously. Are you all fucking kidding me. Like legitimately how self-centered and americentric do you have to be to assume that 1) literally any other country in the world gives a single fuck about the Super Bowl 2) any other GOVERNMENT in the world gives a single fuck about the Super Bowl and 3) literally everything another country does is centered around America and our bullshit fake "holidays." Like I really thought we were done with this after the Black Friday conspiracies.

But I am begging y'all to realize that this is a subtle nod to "the evil jews control everything" conspiracy belief. The more probable factor is the increasing pressure within Israel from citizens there against Netanyahu and the Likud party. People are (rightfully) pissed that the retrieving of hostages has been referenced as little more than a rhetorical point for Netanyahu to use as leverage. Not to mention increased pressure from a growing anti-war segment within Israel and cross-coalitional organizing by groups like Standing Together.

Further, the effect of big, media heavy events on attention to and momentum of social movements in the US ALWAYS does this. Sometimes, that can be used to the counter group's advantage, BUT more often than not, it's a happy coincidence that the American public is easily (and often willfully) distracted. You (we) might want to knock it off with the "conniving Jews pulling shadowy strings" antisemitic bullshit and instead critique how the US public is readily distracted.

Also, I am begging y'all to read something like "People Love Dead Jews" to actually start to understand the ways that rhetorical devices central to antisemitism are embedded in A LOT of common themes not only in conspiracy theories, but in the framing used in everything from media narratives to discussions of policy in the U.S.

Netanyahu and his party have an unimaginable amount of blood on their hands.

I am horrified by their actions (as are many other Jews in the U.S. and worldwide).

I am also disgusted by how quickly so many supposed leftists capitulated to not just laughably ignorant black-white thinking and oversimplifications of how any of this gets resolved, but with the rabid intensity with which so many of you swallowed and began regurgitating straight up antisemitic talking points. Including ignoring the racialized component of Jewish identity that has always been at play in (at least) North America and Western Europe, while ignoring the reality of BIPOC Jews in order to undercut Jewish indigeneity (not just in the Levant but SWANA and elsewhere).
