Mark treats Sam like he is his own being, and worries about his sleeping and being up too late, despite the fact that Sam is just a semi-sentient Interface.

Sam is so clearly comfortable around Mark he’ll even nestle in Mark’s hand basket.

Even though Jack sleeps to heavy metal, Mark is still worried about keeping Chica-Bica quiet so he doesn’t wake his room mates up.

Mark knows about Jack’s night terrors and the musical solution, meaning they’ve discussed it in the past.

Jack has real blankets, pillows, and pajamas now (which we’ll see in the next pages), even if he’s still sleeping on the couch. But these two can’t yet afford anything else.
