Unpopoular Opinion: Sven Hannawald is unsympathetic sometimes.
A Little rant is coming. Youâve been warned.
I noticed it early in this season that Hannawald is not necessarily a fan of the Slovenian jumpers (except Peter. He praises Peter so much.) which is not a crime but he always (!!) shoots against Domen. I bit my tongue for some time now but enough is enough.
No matter what happens itâs always Domenâs fault. Itâs getting embarrassing what heâs blaming Domen for.
One of my German buddies told me that today in qualification when Jernej jumped and it was âplausibleâ, Hannawald said some stuff that itâs probably because Domen takes all the attention and Domen is causing drama (as an example when he didnât appear at the press conference earlier this season) and thatâs why the other jumpers donât get the help or attention they need to get better and that theyâre also probably annoyed that theyâre always asked about Domen and always are in his shadow.
Hannawald rarely says something nice about him. Heâs mostly just criticizing. His flying style, his character, his personality.
And Iâm here like, are you serious man? This kid is seventeen years old, youâre like what? Over 40, leave him alone. Itâs not your time anymore!
Donât you have anything better to do than trying to bring a teenager down? Blaming him for the bad form others have? Like, whatâs wrong with you?! Are you really this jealous?
My friend also told me that he always finds nice words for every jumper, and also is professional in judging or commenting everyoneâs jumps, except for Domen.
Also, itâs obvious that he doesnât really like Domen and prefers Peter not just because of his jumping style but also because heâs the âperfect athleteâ. Heâs quiet and calm, very disciplined, concentrated, and polite. And we all know that Domen obviously isnât like that. But he doesnât need to. First of, heâs not his brother and second of, heâs only a teenager. Heâs seventeen. Jeez, stop being so hard on this kid. I donât even want to know how half of these people, who critizise him in an inappropriate way, were in his age.
Sorry but Iâm a little overprotective over Domen because heâs still so young and especially because I find it unbelievable that a forty something year old needs to pick on a seventeen year old. Itâs not only unbelievable but also unnecessary, embarrassing and unprofessional. Sven your jealousy is showing!
(If itâs a little too much, I apologize. Iâm sure that Sven Hannawald is not a bad Person, probably quite the opposite of a bad person, and I know that he knows what heâs talking about but thatâs what I noticed about the whole situation. Also thanks to my friends who keep me updated!)
