sometimes you listen to an orchestra and you’re like maybe the magic i stopped believing in when i was eleven does exist in some form

tried to look up the aang movie analysis posts and what do you MEAN no one is out there actually analyzing the movie and not like. just straight up critiquing it. i want to see people talk about the lighting/shadows on aang and tagah's faces during the airship conversation and how aang's face literally gets shadowed the moment he starts agreeing with tagah and being swayed by him. with screenshots. and/or gifs-

it’s frustrating to see analysis of orpheus and eurydice’s relationship end at their love for each other when the entire purpose of that love, narratively, is to introduce the political themes of the musical. you won’t fight for a better future if you don’t see one ahead of you, and eurydice didn’t until orpheus showed her, and that was why she fell in love with him. when his support becomes intangible to her, she loses herself to despair, but then he shows her again, and then the chorus, and then persephone, and finally hades. everyone was so lost in their personal tragedies that they couldn’t look past them to see their sorrows reflected in those of others, and in that they could not find connection and solidarity, and in that they could not conceive of finding people with hands that they might join to lift each other up. orpheus is overwhelmed by his personal tragedy and succumbs to it, and only then does he fail to reverse it. meanwhile, his showing the path forward and uniting the chorus up until the moment he turns allows them to resurface alongside persephone, having found hope and support and the willingness to fight for both those things in him and in each other
