Collection of MSPaint sketches
At one point or another I worked on some MSPaint(as in a copy of it I brought over from Windows XP) drawings I did with a mouse either as a quick sketch or because I didn't feel like hooking my wacom tablet up to my laptop at the moment.
These were all just stuff I showed on Discord with a friend of mine(and sometimes friends in other servers & recently my boyfriend) but I thought I'd show them here since otherwise they'll kind of get lost to time unless I scroll back to them one day.(Like now)
I tried to look around & added the date they were first posted/kind of finished, if one date mentions more than one day then I was able to find in progress images. Sometimes it was how the image was originally shown then I added on to it or something.
The characters in this are for a series I want to work on called "We're Still Here", at best you just need to know it's about guardians of liminal forest that use to be human.
Most of these images involve my OC Arthur who is the main character & the newest guardian. At one point his name was Keith but I changed it to Arthur because I admittedly became obsessed with the name & I was scrapping another character who admittedly got ideas/feature from him merged with this character.(Will use Keith as someone else's name eventually)
His appearance is kind of all over the place cause I'm still working on shit.
Also please be aware Arthur's name will change over time in this to show some of the changes he went through. His name started as Shade then Keith then Arthur.
My friend(I'll call her Belle cause of one of her usernames & so it's less confusing) & I were talking about How to Train Your Dragon, she has an OC named Nightwing who is based on Toothless.
I thought it'd be funny to draw a Makoto based character as Night's younger brother. This ended up Arthur's first appearance, this version of Arthur is called Shade.

Shade in a design I planned to use for his non-Shade ver. The scales were kind of changed to a theme I like a lot for some reason(Twins/opposites/mix matched) which is why one side has white scales & the other has black/dark scales.(Might be hard to see thanks to his skin) You can't see it but there's a little white mark on the tip of his tail.
Shade in his non-Shade ver but with the scale color I plan to give non-Shade. These colors come from a now retired OC that for some reason was based on a cute monster design for Edd from Eddsworld.
Also Shade while a little shy/nervous about it is fine with wearing whatever he likes so sometimes just wears a sun dress.
I also wanted to make a character with dragon features & a chubby tail. We need more chubby tail characters.(Have a sitting Miku figure that has a monster/dragon tail that fits the good enough size. It's the Miku Villain ver noodle stopper.)
This was a sketch/doodle of Night being protective of Shade.
Shade's wings are also usually drooped/low when not in use. Shade usually has his wings wrapped like a cape(kind of like the characters from the show Gargoyles) when not in use which leads to him not caring to wear a shirt.(Although to be fair he was born in an era were you had to have the clothes made yourself. Helps that he now lives in present day & is aware of magic, then again he's a spirit now which has helped his health)
Shade is oblivious to what's going on while Night is very protective.
Back when I still called Arthur Shade, I like to give him a long ribbon tied around his neck when he's in the white sun dress.(Recently imagine the ribbon is enchanted & lets him fly/float some)
I tried redoing his look a little, made the side horns/ears smaller.
Also attempted to give him a mini form cause I thought it'd be funny to see him deal with times he's in a smaller form or sitting/laying on someone's shoulder or head.
One version is a doll form with extra horns. The second ver was based on Charlotte from Madoka Magica & Bendy from Bendy and the Ink Machine. I might work on this at a later point.
December 27, 2025(the sketches were original bright cyan so I edited it to be easier to see)
This is from around the time I was calling Shade Keith. This also involves a character I'm still trying to figure what I want to do with design wise named Elk. Or at the very least he's technically a copy of an OC of mine named Elk. I'm trying to work on him & Elk is a place holder name. I dunno why I named the original Elk, I thought it was funny.
Anyway this Elk is one of the main guardians of the liminal forest & is Arthur/Keith/Shade's boyfriend.
I felt like drawing Keith on a rock with Elk crouched behind him looking around & wanting to keep his boyfriend safe. Keith is staring off into space, Belle suggested this outfit(night gown). I kind of like this hair so might try to reintroduce it to his design later.
Had issues posing Elk cause I didn't feel like resizing the image.
This was meant as a joke involving Belle's OC, David. David is an insane accountant that is the villain of Belle's other OCs' story.
Pretty much none of Keith nor his friends/other guardians wish to deal with David so they climbed up a tree. Elk is both clinging to the tree & holding Keith up to keep him safe.(It's a running gag that everyone holds/picks him up a lot) Keith(who can go into a more human form) is nervous about David yelling about "Buncha 9th Dimensional Haters".(Yes he's that insane)
Some of the people with Elk & Keith are with(I don't have names for them yet) are some of the guardians that work with security so deal with tough moments but they're scared too. One guy trying to climb up the tree is grabbing the shirt/jacket of one with a sword to try helping her stay in the tree. She & the one with the poorly drawn gun despite trying to keep straight faces(hard to tell thanks to how lazy this drawing is) but they don't want to be here.
I dunno how to word shit.
This is for an OC named Kei(Belle helped me with the name), he's admittedly inspired by Kazuichi. Deciding to name him Kei is also what led to Keith's name change.
I was working on an MSPaint sketch of Kei & was trying to think of hair for him. I drew some hair ideas & got help from Belle cause I kind of end up getting advice for some shit from her.
The one with the green "runner up" ribbons were ones Belle liked
The ones with the orange line got mashed together into the one the arrow is pointed out
The one with the pink line got updated then split into two versions(One is hair pulled back into a little ponytail, one just hair pulled/styled back)
The one with the green 1st place ribbon ended up being the design we went for
Here's the finished pic of Kei along with an unfinished ref. The ref was gonna show different doodles showing off how Kei is like but never got around to finishing it then just decided to work on a non-MSPaint ver later.
Kei builds stuff & has the ability to change his form some but mostly her tail which can be used to hold/grab shit. Gaining the ability to shapeshift has really helped their mental health & figure out their identity.
Random sketch of Keith in lounging clothes(t-shirt, shorts & socks) hanging over the couch. He's short so kind of just dangles over the back of it.
For some reason this is a pose I've imagined repeatedly with Keith/Arthur, some others & especially the Eddswolrd based OC that is retired but still haunting the designs.
The pic below was here before this pic but I'm putting this before it cause chronologically it was made first. I found it a moment ago so I'm adding it in now.
This is around the time I finally renamed Keith to Arthur & merged him with the kind of scrapped old ver of Arthur. New Arthur got old Arthur's injuries so he has scarring & is blind in one eye.(in fact it was replaced with a glass one)
The idea is that Elk & Arthur might have kids in the eventual future & the two just learned Arthur is pregnant.(I don't have an explanation, just use magic if you need one) Elk is looking at Arthur & is very worried not only cause they're both first time parents but because neither knows how this will go.(Plus dunno if the kids will cause issues & Arther is injured/smaller than Elk)
Most recent sketch of Keith who is now finally named Arthur. He was finally merged with the old version of Arthur kinda & I need to work on his design at some point. Also gave him a halo, he's not dead & it's kind of a form of magic circle thing that's just there.
For context this is after Arthur had their kids, I made the mistake of drawing the babies tiny because I was close to falling asleep at my seat while drawing this.(I drew this before going to bed)
This pic is also admittedly based off a joke involving the original ver of Elk involving kids we gave him & River(a semi retired past ver of old Arthur). The joke is has to do with the fact I named Elk well Elk for no reason & it led to Belle thinking it'd be funny to name the baby Fawn.
Belle didn't know what'd happen if newborn Fawn was laid on the grass so had a friend of Elk & River place Fawn on the ground. Elk had to tell him that he isn't like actual elk or deer so the friend isn't impressed that he laid a new born on the ground for no reason.
Anyway Elk took Arthur to a friend/other guardian that could help with the delivery. Said friend thought something would happen if he laid Elk & Arthur's first born on the grass.(Arthur is on a futon bed in some area in the liminal forest) Arthur is too tired to move, he has one baby on him & he can't see(has a glass eye) what's going on with the baby laid in the grass.
The one laying in the grass is just wiggling around, Elk will hand him to Arthur in a moment. Arthur's tail kind of works as a leg rest at the moment.
